Story
The story of how I, Julian Carter, and my precious two-year old son, Stephen, left Atlanta Georgia and found ourselves on a white sailboat, tossed about like a cork on a raging sea off of Australia's northern tip in 1963, is harrowing. But it pales in comparison to what happened deep in the jungle where I was taken as a slave by a savage tribe unknown to the world. Some places dwell in darkness so deep that even God seems to stay away.

Publisher's Summary
Who am I?
My name is Christy Snow. I'm 17 and I'm about to die. I'm buried in a coffin under tons of concrete. No one knows where I am. My heart sounds like a monster with clobber feet, running straight toward me.
I'm lying on my back, soaked with sweat from the hair on my head to the soles of my feet. My hands and feet won't stop shaking. Some will say that I'm not really here. Some will say I'm delusional. Some will say that I don t even exist. But who are they? I'm the one buried in a grave.
My name is Christy Snow. I'm 17. I'm about to die.
So who are you?
In a return to the kind of storytelling that made Black, Showdown and Three unforgettable, Ted Dekker drags that question into the light with this modern day parable about how we see ourselves. Humming with intensity and blindsided twists, Eyes Wide Open is raw adrenaline from the first page to the last pure escapism packed with inescapable truth. Not all is as it seems. Or is it? Strap yourself in for the ride of your life. Literally.

Dekkers story of delusion and reality grabbed my attention.
I wasn’t as enthralled in the story till I realised the characters were not “ seeing “ what was true. I was annoyed at Christy for being so weak. Then I was caught up in the whole process of dealing with mental health and what in this the story was reality. As I’ve come to notice in Ted Dekker’s stories the spiritual depth comes clear when the characters find the “ lamps” and meet Outlaw- whose amazing story is worth reading again.
This has challenged me and given me insight when dealing with people who have their eyes shut.
I’m encouraged by all of Dekker’s stories to be full of joy and encourage those around me who are trapped in darkness and fear and need to see they are lived so much by their creator and Saviour of mankind.
