Publisher's Summary

In the New York Times best-selling series' latest installment, Mitch Rapp finds himself alone and targeted by a country that is supposed to be one of America's closest allies.

After 9/11, the United States made one of the most secretive and dangerous deals in its history. The evidence against the powerful Saudis who coordinated the attack would be buried. In return, King Faisal would promise to keep the oil flowing and deal with the conspirators in his midst.

When the king's own nephew is discovered funding ISIS, the president suspects that the Saudis never intended to live up to their agreement. He decides that the royalty needs to be sent a message and that Mitch Rapp is just the man to deliver it. The catch? America can't be seen moving against an ally. Rapp will be on his own. Forced to make a decision that will change his life forever, Rapp quits the CIA and assembles a group of independent contractors to help him complete the mission.

They've barely begun unraveling the connections between the Saudi government and ISIS when the brilliant new head of the intelligence directorate discovers their efforts. With Rapp getting too close, he threatens to go public with the details of the post-9/11 agreement between the two countries.

Facing an international incident that could end his political career, the president orders America's intelligence agencies to join the Saudis' effort to hunt the former CIA man down.

Rapp, supported only by a team of mercenaries with dubious allegiances, finds himself at the center of the most elaborate manhunt in history. It's only a matter of time before he's caught or killed. Will it be enough to turn the tables on the Saudis and clear his name?

    "Re narrators, let's not forget..."

In addition to George Guidall, Armand Schultz has narrated several Mitch Rapp books. All three are talented readers--Brick, Schultz and Guidall--and must be in high demand. I'll happily take any of them, as well as George Newbern, who is beginning to grow on me as a narrator. Not finished with this book, but it's a good Rapp book so far and Brick does his usual excellent job. I think it's a testament to Vince Flynn and now Kyle Mills that the writing stands up to multiple narrators. If you're a Mitch Rapp fan, listen to this one.

What didn’t you like about Scott Brick’s performance?

well, after listening to the whole series, pre-ordering the newest installation and waiting and waiting for it, I load and hit Play to hear...Scott Brick.
    Gee, Thanks.
Brick isn't a bad voice, he just Is Not Mitch Rapp, especially after all these years.
I'd be happy to pay Full Price to hear Guidall...and add a healthy Tip.

    "Great storyline!!"

Scott Brick's performance was as enjoyable as George Guidal's in the previous books. My only problem was Claudia's accent sometimes sounded more German than French. Although I really liked the storyline, it's rather unbelievable that rivals guess each other's thoughts and actions so accurately. Of course it makes the storytelling easier but who has that kind of confidence in real life...then again, I've never interacted with world leaders or people at that level.

"They miss George G. Reading this one."

Claudia, who is suppose to be French, very much sounds like a German. Other accents were disappointing as well. Story was not up to the usual standards I'm afraid.

"Wait for the George Guidahll version "
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

have george Guidahl be the narrator and change the way the characters related to each other to reflect the past characters behavior throughout the series.

What was most disappointing about Vince Flynn and Kyle Mills ’s story?

The way that Mitch Rapp related to his team mates and the way that Irene Kennedy was portrayed as a uninvolved part. The story line was just not the typical way that Rapp would have carried out a mission. Maybe I will feel differently when i here the george version please have him narrate this book

What didn’t you like about Scott Brick’s performance?

I hated his involvement because he made this book sound like a clive cussler story. I wanted the story to sound like the other vince flynn books have in the past and i was very disappointed with this one. I enjoy him in the cussler series but this series is not the place for him

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I will wait for the guidable version and let you know then.

    "Disappointing"

Scott Brick is a fine narrator but this audio series is tied to George Guidall. Mills is more into back story and fluff than Flynn and thus the book doesn't have the same pace and intensity Rapp books are known for.

    good character development

    "Not Vince"

It was good, but it could have been great. The narrator was good, but it wasn't GEORGE. It just didn't have the same Mitch Rapp feel.

"Not George - why the change in narrators??"

I usually enjoy Scott Brick's performances but there is no distinction in the Mitch voices and the men he works with. Only voice change is when character is foreign. Disappointed. Returning this one.

Great book, joins nicely to the previous novel but then manages to mix up the formula for this story. Well worth reading!
