Publisher's Summary

In the New York Times best-selling series' latest installment, Mitch Rapp finds himself alone and targeted by a country that is supposed to be one of America's closest allies.

After 9/11, the United States made one of the most secretive and dangerous deals in its history. The evidence against the powerful Saudis who coordinated the attack would be buried. In return, King Faisal would promise to keep the oil flowing and deal with the conspirators in his midst.

When the king's own nephew is discovered funding ISIS, the president suspects that the Saudis never intended to live up to their agreement. He decides that the royalty needs to be sent a message and that Mitch Rapp is just the man to deliver it. The catch? America can't be seen moving against an ally. Rapp will be on his own. Forced to make a decision that will change his life forever, Rapp quits the CIA and assembles a group of independent contractors to help him complete the mission.

They've barely begun unraveling the connections between the Saudi government and ISIS when the brilliant new head of the intelligence directorate discovers their efforts. With Rapp getting too close, he threatens to go public with the details of the post-9/11 agreement between the two countries.

Facing an international incident that could end his political career, the president orders America's intelligence agencies to join the Saudis' effort to hunt the former CIA man down.

Rapp, supported only by a team of mercenaries with dubious allegiances, finds himself at the center of the most elaborate manhunt in history. It's only a matter of time before he's caught or killed. Will it be enough to turn the tables on the Saudis and clear his name?

    "Another Mitch Raupp Adventure"

I prefer the story's read by George Guidall. I also think there was a lack of new characters making this one somewhat of a disappointment although I still enjoyed it. As I've listened or read them all I normally give most all of them either a 4 - 5 star.

    "Always Good. Love the series."

While I felt that some details normally associated with a Mitch Rapp book were a bit rushed, this book still kept me interested and intrigued.

    I would recommend.

"How do you murder Mitch Rapp? Scott Brick"
Would you try another book from Vince Flynn and Kyle Mills and/or Scott Brick?

I'm so sad for the legend of Rapp and the memory of Vince Flynn. Vince was professional and he wouldn't have allowed this 3rd rate bs to have his name on it.

What could Vince Flynn and Kyle Mills have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

    They could trade places

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Scott Brick?

Any of the other 6 billion people on the planet would have been better. Maybe the next one will be read by Siri or Stephen Hawking. Their are a lot of great books that I can't listen too because Scott Brick is the narrator. Rapp is my favorite, so this is a double blow.

Did Enemy of the State inspire you to do anything?

Jump out of my car at high speed into on coming traffic.

    Any additional comments?

The person responsible for choosing Scott Brick should be deeply ashamed. You destroyed something awesome with your incompetence. Please fix it! Vince deserves the best.

Another winner in the Mitch Rapp series. Kyle Mills shows again what a tremendous author he is. I did feel Scott Brick took the edge off Rapp that George Guidall brought, but still a quality performance

    "Jumping the shark?"

This books seems as if the author couldn't think of a good story so he decided to bring back all Rapp's opponents who were still alive to unit for a common good. It kind of reminds of an old episode of the super-friends.

I love the Rapp series. This is the worst book in the series by far. I would have stopped listening after the first quarter of the book but the idea of not having listened to all the Rapp books forced me to continue.

"Story was entertaining. Narration was terrible."
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend that a friend read the paper book or Kindle because of the narration.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Scott Brick?

I miss George Guidal terribly. He could do accents so perfectly and even differentiate between male and female characters.

Brick has no finesse. He does not voice the characters so they are easily differentiated. I had no idea what character was speaking. His delivery is monotone at least and overwrought at best. His style is best for romantic novels, not action-adventure. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am in this listening experience. The total lack of nuance is appalling from a professional voice guy.

    Any additional comments?

When I saw that Scott Brick was the narrator, I almost did not order the book, based on his terrible narrations on other books. Because I adore Mitch Rapp, I took a chance. I lost.
I will be asking for a refund.

If you EVER pick Scott Brick to narrate another Mitch Rapp novel, I will not get it at Audible.

    "Poorly narrated"

The narrator was overly dramatic in his constant whispering. The audio has an annoying sawtooth profile making listening while driving a challenge. The narrator has a great voice but the fluctuations were too frequent and usually without need.

    "Bring Back Vince and George!"
What did you like best about Enemy of the State? What did you like least?

Ok, so I am a bit optimistic. I have listened to all of the Rapp novels over the years and was pleased that the series would be continued but the stories just don't have the depth and intrigue without the departed Vince writing. This story's outline had much promise but the story lacked the punch, gut wrenching moments and romance that should have been there. It would be interesting to compare the "veteran" reader's reviews versus the more recent reader's reviews.

If you’ve listened to books by Vince Flynn and Kyle Mills before, how does this one compare?

It just doesn't compare. I have only felt like one of Kyle's books was worthy of listening to and this wasn't the one.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Scott Brick?

I like Scott and have listened to him for hundreds of hours but George is the voice I want to hear for this series.

Could you see Enemy of the State being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

It might make a better movie than book since it didn't have the depth. If the casting is anything like "American Assassin" though, I would pass on making it a movie. Who is the idiot that cast AA? Its like they went out of their way to find actors that are completely wrong for the series. Why does Hollywood always seem to go for the incredibly skinny non muscular types? How about a solid athlete with a descent physique. Anybody can be just skinny! And find somebody to write and cast that HAS been a fan of the books! Maybe they will have a clue.

I've listened to Scott Brick narration before and have enjoyed his accounts. Not this time. Pulling George Guidall from this series was a bad decision. Returning this book
