Great narrator.

Enjoyed this book more so because of the narrator’s performance. Lani John Tupu read with perfect pace at all the right times. One of the best voices I’ve listened to.

Fantastic

So good. I didn’t think it could be as good as the first book in this series (Hades), but it was. Great stuff, read it!

What an ending!

This was a pretty dark underworld, underbelly kind of book. the worse of humanity and the best of humanity. The story continues and now I have to see what happens!

EDEN - 2nd Book in the Series even better !

Read this a month ago and still lingering.
Story based around several key characters and how their paths come together over the years. Some from severe hardship/mistreatment and some from the right side of life. Eden and her brother, and Hades, harsh and evil ... or just victims, and bringers of justice? Frank the detective, weak and human ... or just lonely, and good, and honest?
Builds on the characters and story from the first book, so maybe this fact makes it a little more cohesive and consistent ... or maybe I'm just getting used to the style and the theme.
The backward time jumps sometimes a little disconcerting, but the story slowly grows to terrific build up and tension filled unexpected (to me!) ending. Sometimes spicy, sometimes uncertain, but always drawing you to the next chapter. Great read / great narration. Is there a 3rd book in the series? Read the first book for context and enjoyment. This one steps up.

Solid sequel

Lacked the chapter to chapter intensity of Hades but still very good overall. A must listen if you are already invested after Hades.

Brilliantly narrated again

One of the best series I’ve read/listened to in a very long time, will be recommending to everyone I know.

Wonderfully written, gritty yet light. The narrator is amazing too. I’m about to listen to book 3. Warning - you won’t be able to put these books down so make sure you have plenty of free time to binge read/listen.

Magnificent Narrator! Best ever!

Love Candice Fox’s books. Lani John Tupu absolutely brings a great story & interesting characters to life. The complexity of the characters emerges in a masterful way, and challenges the reader to empathy and understanding of their flaws despite their sometimes abhorrent deeds. I started with the Crimson Lake series, which is outstanding and now really enjoying going back to the earlier books.

Too dark for me

I loved the Crimson Lake series but have had problems with this series. Narrator is excellent but the story is disturbing, dark and violent. I have not wanted to finish it.
