Enlisting the aid of sexy NYPD Captain Francis X. Frisano, Jimmy finds himself torn between the two cases, as well as the heat simmering between himself and the hot cop. Suddenly a quiet summer has erupted into a full blown crime wave.

Hugely satisfying murder-mystery!
The heatwave in NYC is causing a crime wave and it’s a headache for PI Jimmy McSwain. When Jimmy’s sister cajoles him into tailing her boyfriend, Rocky, whom she suspects of cheating, Jimmy can’t foresee the chaos and death ahead. Meanwhile, a disgruntled ex-cop, who may have links to JImmy’s father’s death, is robbing and shooting people in delis across NYC and Jimmy needs answers before it’s too late. Once again, Joseph Pittman (writing under the Adam Carpenter pen name) has written a fast-paced, absorbing investigative murder-mystery with a sympathetic, but not dysfunctional, main character. I really like Jimmy, he’s flawed yet decent and therefore entirely human. I loved the structure of these books: there’s always two cases, one a high-octane mystery, the other pertaining to the intriguing conspiracy surrounding the murder of Jimmy’s dad - and they’re always both so satisfying! Voice artist Joel Leslie skilfully trots out his wide variety of NY accents as only he can.
