Engrossing tale of family secrets

An absorbing read following Linley and Havers as they unravel the mystery behind the death of member of a wealthy Cumbrian family. As in many of George's novels, the irritatingly naive and self-absorbed character of Deborah St John spoils what would otherwise be a cracking read. Why on earth didn't the author kill Deborah off in place of the witty and stylish Helen Linley? Excellent narration but be prepared to hear Barbara Havers presented in broad Scots brogue.
