Publisher's Summary

Exploring the dichotomy between one's inner and outer self is central to Behind Her Eyes. When a vulnerable woman is drawn into the lives of an enigmatic couple, she finds it hard to differentiate between reality and what truly lies beneath a seemingly perfect exterior.

Don't trust this audiobook.

Don't trust these people.

Don't trust yourself.

And whatever you do, don't give away that ending....

Louise.

Since her husband walked out, Louise has made her son her world, supporting them both with her part-time job. But all that changes when she meets....

David.

Young, successful and charming - Louise cannot believe a man like him would look at her twice, let alone be attracted to her. But that all comes to a grinding halt when she meets his wife....

Adele.

Beautiful, elegant and sweet - Louise's new friend seems perfect in every way. As she becomes obsessed by this flawless couple, entangled in the intricate web of their marriage, they each in turn reach out to her.

But only when she gets to know them both does she begin to see the cracks.... Is David really the man she thought she knew, and is Adele as vulnerable as she appears?

Just what terrible secrets are they both hiding, and how far will they go to keep them?

Silly

Even the twist not enough to redeem this silly plot. Ridiculous characters. Morosely entertaining and engaging though at times.

What an ending

The story revolves around three main characters David, Adele and Louise and most of the book is switching between the perspectives of Adele and Louise as their friendship develops.

This book is a thriller and I was desperate to know what was going to happen from the moment I started listening. I could never have imagined the ending and I was pretty blown away when it all came out.

I would highly recommend this book and only sad I got through it so fast.

Worst audible read ever

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

People who can suspend their disbelief beyond all the normal realms of possibility

What was most disappointing about Sarah Pinborough’s story?

This book got more disappointing by the page. The premise of the story was totally unbelievable and the ending while surprising was disappointing because it seemed to me as though the author just ran out of fanciful ideas and come up with one that would finally end the book.

What aspect of the narrators’s performance might you have changed?

The performance wasn't too bad considering what the reader had to work with.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment - extreme disappointment. After a book like this it really makes one wonder if the audible membership is worth having.

Any additional comments?

Thank goodness I can return this because it was dreadful.

I want the last 13 hours of my life back.

Well written and great narrator, but this will be the last fictional love story I read for a long time. Wasn't entirely pleased with how it ended. Felt unlrealistic and didn't do the book justice.

I am disappointed.

So without giving anything away i have to say that i was thoroughly disappointed with the twist. The book drags on far too much and would have been better if it was 30 chapters instead of the 59. While the book initially grabbed me, I foubd myself more bored and wanting the book to end. So much so that i skipped chapters 30 to 50 then 52 - 57 ( i think i just listened to the last 2 chapters). either way for me this book will be a return because i found it unnecessary long winded.
