Publisher's Summary
The fourth spellbinding book in the epic Clifton Chronicles series
Be Careful What You Wish For opens with Harry Clifton and his wife, Emma, rushing to hospital to learn the fate of their son, Sebastian, who has been involved in a fatal car accident. But who died, Sebastian or his best friend Bruno?
When Ross Buchanan is forced to resign as chairman of the Barrington Shipping Company, Emma Clifton wants to replace him. But Don Pedro Martinez intends to install his puppet, the egregious Major Alex Fisher, in order to destroy the Barrington family firm just as the company plans to build its new luxury liner, the MV Buckingham. Back in London, Harry and Emma's adopted daughter wins a scholarship to the Slade Academy of Art where she falls in love with a fellow student, Clive Bingham, who asks her to marry him. Both families are delighted until Priscilla Bingham, Jessica's future mother-in-law, has a visit from an old friend, Lady Virginia Fenwick, who drops her particular brand of poison into the wedding chalice.
Then, without warning, Cedric Hardcastle, a bluff Yorkshireman who no one has come across before, takes his place on the board of Barringtons. This causes an upheaval that none of them could have anticipated, and will change the lives of every member of the Clifton and Barrington families. Hardcastle's first decision is who to support to become the next chairman of the board: Emma Clifton or Major Alex Fisher? And with that decision, the story takes yet another twist that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Gripping
Another fantastic book in this series. It is amazing how each book draws you into the next and propels you through. Such a captivating narrative. Unlike the earlier books however, this is lacking the female narrator, which is somewhat disappointing, if only because it provides variation in tone.

I wished for this book, be careful.
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I have been engrossed in the series since it first began. I enjoyed listening but it wasn't as good as the others.
Would you be willing to try another book from Jeffrey Archer? Why or why not?
I have read several books by Jeffrey Archer. I like the way he writes.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I found the toffee accents a bit hard to take at times. Also the Rodriguez family were very hammy.
Was Be Careful What You Wish For worth the listening time?
If you love this series then yes. Again it leaves you hanging.
Any additional comments?
I have heard there are 7 books in the series. I just hope they have more substance to them than Careful what you Wish For. This one, I felt, was written in a hurry to get it out on the shelves.

the saga continues
This book continues the storyline and furthers the development of the central characters. Jeffrey Archer does use predictable plots. However, his writing is well put together and easy to follow.

Back on track
I have been a little critical of the last two, but back on track, thoroughly enjoyed this one. My only criticism is the length of each book in this series are a bit short for the cost compared to most I listen too, but certainly the quality is back with this one.
