Publisher's Summary

She chose him. He chose revenge. But some choices have deadly consequences.

When Elise agreed to break a vicious curse over the man she loved, she never imagined he was a lost fae prince. But Valen left her to carry out vengeance for his slaughtered family. So when she joins the outlaw fae in their uprising against her own sister, all Elise wants is to forget the prince who holds her heart.

But fate has a different plan.

Reunited in the rescue of a mutual friend, Elise and Valen are forced to decide where they stand in the battle of crowns. As their passion reignites, so too do the dangers threatening to pull them apart for good: a strange magical blight infecting the land, betrayal by one of their own, and a devastating secret not even a fae prince saw coming.

The wicked game for the right to rule has begun. But who will save Elise and Valen from a dark magic with the power to destroy their love forever?

For fans of The Cruel Prince and The Shadows Between Us, this tale of a rebellious princess and a seductive prince is wickedly romantic.

Quite a good follow up

So to be clear about this series it is YA and fantasy. The romance is barely there, by that I mean not many lovey dovey scenes. Quite a good a follow up, parts of the story frustrated me though. Valan fighting his love for Elise. I know people say their was a love triangle but in my opinion there wasn't. The world building and laying the scene for future books is excellent. The last 4 or3 hours were the best of the story. I loved the addition of more members to the Guild of Shade or was it Night Shades? I had 2 people i suspected who would betray Valan and Elise and glad it turned out to be my least liked character. The ending i suspected yet at the same time I couldn't I have guessed it. Sill I found it enjoyable and while it is similiar to Jennifer L Armentrout's Blood and Ash, it's different enough to keep my attention. I enjoy Stina Neilsen's narration and adding Valan's POV was an interesting addition and Tim Campbell does an adequate job of telling the story though i thin he does English and Scottish narrations the best. Not sure fantasy books are his thing.
