Jim Gold is a former FBI agent turned Private Investigator, currently living in a small town in Pennsylvania. Jim has earned the respect of the townspeople and the Sheriff's Department, but the peace and quiet is about to be disrupted by something sinister. A number of people travelling the back roads have been disappearing for a month, and with next to no trace of them found, the main suspicion is that they've been kidnapped.
Jim is forced to involve himself in the case when a local girl he acts as the guardian angel for, Tracy Kean, disappears.
When his nemesis from the FBI shows up and takes over the case, Jim must work fast to save Tracy. But after a while, he starts to think that there's more going on, and the perpetrators are even more dangerous than anyone he's ever faced.
