About this listen

Secret Service Agent Oakes Weaver is in the midst of the biggest assignment of her career - leading the advance team for President Andrew Powell's impending trip to Philadelphia where everyone expects he will be nominated to run for a second term. The last thing she needs is a tragedy among the president's inner circle that might not be an accident, or the sudden recruitment of Ari Rostof, a woman who might be a lot more than she seems. But Oakes doesn't get a say in policy, she only has to secure the president's safety - at all costs.

First Daughter Blair Powell and her spouse, Cameron Roberts, are among the reelection campaign members accompanying President Andrew Powell to Philadelphia. While the president may be protected by his Secret Service agents, those close to him are literally in the kill zone, and his adversaries will stop at nothing to further their cause - even mass murder.

Poor choice to change narrator, and not a very good one either. Story too fragmented with so many new characters and little focus on Cam and Blair. Truly felt like a final with no more story to tell.

Lost focus and poor narrator

Why why why would you change the narrator at book 10. She sounded like a robot, no emotion. Book 9 left us with a cliff hanger. There was no closure. Just another villain and more new characters. I understand the need for new characters. But why a new villlan when the old one is still at large?

Worst out of the series

It was nice to see all of my favorite characters from this series revisited, as well as the crossover characters from the Justice series. It did feel a little condensed compared to some of the other books in the series, so it felt more about the characters than about the terrorist plot.
The narration was not enjoyable for me at all. It seemed wooden in places and the conversations between characters lacked a lot of the connection and ease that you would expect to feel and hear between spouses, friends, lovers or family.

Good story but the narration was terrible

I’ve absolutely binged this whole series and loved every minute. The story development was excellent until the last book then it seemed to go off track. Unresolved story threads while introducing completely new ones. Abandoning undeveloped story lines is never wise, especially the main protagonist from the previous book the villain barely connects.
Then there is the voice acting. At times I thought this was AI it was bland and characters were easily confused. Who in their right mind replaces the voice actor after 9 books. I could not accept the new voices for characters we had become attached to. Abby craden ia a cut above and should never be replaced in a series. For this reason this book bombed

Thought I was listening to a different story?
No follow on from book 9
Disappointing and missed Abby 🙈

Least favourite book of the series. No follow on, hardly any main character story continuance and not having Abby on this one made listening a chore. Her nuance and tempo was all off and it felt robotic.
