Publisher's Summary

A groundbreaking book that transforms the debate about global warming by offering a fresh perspective based on human needs as well as environmental concerns

Bjorn Lomborg argues that many of the elaborate and expensive actions now being considered to stop global warming will cost hundreds of billions of dollars, are often based on emotional rather than strictly scientific assumptions, and may very well have little impact on the world’s temperature for hundreds of years. Rather than starting with the most radical procedures, Lomborg argues that we should first focus our resources on more immediate concerns, such as fighting malaria and HIV/AIDS and assuring and maintaining a safe, fresh water supply - which can be addressed at a fraction of the cost and save millions of lives within our lifetime. He asks why the debate over climate change has stifled rational dialogue and killed meaningful dissent.

Lomborg presents us with a second generation of thinking on global warming that believes panic is neither warranted nor a constructive place from which to deal with any of humanity’s problems, not just global warming. Cool It promises to be one of the most talked about and influential books of our time.

Wildly optimistic

Clear and concise information in an easy to listen delivery. I recommend that those who fear the world is ending due to human impact on the global warming front and fundamental examples of what we can do to create a positive impact.

A bit repetitious

Great angles presented on the book from the author about a more pragmatic look at climate change and what humankind should really be focussing on ... namely starvation, malaria, abortion, water, shelter etc ... rather than trillions spent on a climate agenda that'll deliver very little bang for it's buck. Tool me a long time to get through this because I'd read heaps of books on climate change and the narrator was a bit over the top. Otherwise a useful book to read. Would have been good to see his references to his sources but you'd probably have to buy the kindle or hardcopy for that.

End the propaganda insanity and propose reason.

The world needs to listen to this approach or accept the damage that WILL follow from the lies about climate change.

Good approach albeit a bit dated and repetitive

Makes the general argument that climate change hysteria is problematic because it somewhat vindicates climate change deniers, prevents rational dialogue on cost/benefit analyses and distracts away from non-climate issues.

It proposes some alternative approaches.

The specific data and issues discussed are slightly dated, but these may help as historical references to put current discussions into context.

Great book

Cool It is a great book. Chock-full of stats. Made for a wide audience, it can be listened to by the general public or a scientist with ferver. It was clearly made for making the situation be exceptionally understood so reminds you of prior details and rehashes them by connecting it to new information in each chapter. It is a good book for those interested in actually how the problems of the world are to be solved.
