One of my all time favourite books.
I've read it twice myself, then thoroughly enjoyed listening to Helen read it to me. Her voice was perfect. The story is beautiful and the characters capture your heart.

Love this classic
I've read the book at least 4 times over the years and this is the second time I've listened to the audiobook. It's like putting on a warm blanket, the characters are so likeable and you really feel like you become a part of the family. love it!

Outstanding narration
For the last 4 days I’ve used every spare minute to listen to this story. Historical fiction is one of my loves and Rosamunde’s writing is very easy to read but what was so amazing was the narration by Helen Johns. What an amazing talent! Her gentle but expressive telling of the story, along with being able to manage a variety of accents seamlessly was truly wonderful. It’s what made this story so special. Thank you so much Helen.

Excellent listen, fabulous narration
I’m a big Rosamunde Pilcher fan. I read her books years ago and loved this narrated version. Helen John’s is very easy to listen to and I have now put more on my wish list.

A wonderful study of real people.
I think I have read all of Rosamunde Pilcher's books over most of my adult life. She had a great talent for capturing the life and minds of real people living real lives. This one is no exception. I loved every word.

Classic WWII family tale
One of my favorite books. I’ve read it many times. Hearing it was marvelous and I think there were parts that I’d never fully taken in. My very first audio book and it was fabulous.
Would recommend to anyone who is interested in history and likes a light touch romance

Long, a bit frivolous but delightful
I nearly gave up after the first hour or two but the characters, Cornwall and the realities of WWII won me over in the end. All nicely predictable and satisfying.
