It explores an aspect of human nature that, although dormant in hard economic times, is capable of erupting with the hint of good fortune and the drop of a credit card. A treat to live vicariously through the narrative

Loved the charm and effortless listening of this audiobook. The entire experience was enjoyed and savoured, much like the elegant and opulent and exquisite acquired tastes’ mentioned.

Enjoy tongue in cheek and don’t take the book too seriously. It’s a fun insight into extravagant joys.

A Splendid Story

Splendid story of what might now be a bygone era, this is a history you can live through vicariously nevertheless. Delightfully snobbish, but all the better for it, and the dry narration just adds to it all. Wonderful- I started over again as soon as it finished!
