Publisher's Summary

Gabriela

Stefan Sabbioni showed up uninvited in my bedroom on my 16th birthday. He stood in the shadows, smelling of whiskey and death and wrapped a broken, blood-crusted necklace around my neck. I thought he’d strangle me with it.

That night, he left a message for my father. He said he’d be back to take something precious.

I never delivered that message, though. I wonder if things would be different if I had because now, two years later, he’s back. And he’s not hiding in any shadows.

He’s come to make good on his promise.

He’s back to take that something precious.

Me.

Stefan

Marchese is the manipulator of my family’s tragedy. I won’t just bring him to his knees. I’ll bury him for what he did.

Taking his daughter is only the beginning. I’ll do it, knowing I’m starting a war. I’ll do it, knowing my enemies will become his allies. They’ll stop at nothing to destroy me, and he’ll stop at nothing to get her back.

I’ve never shied away from war, though. I’m not one to play nice, and I don’t share my toys. I’ll demolish you if you touch what’s mine.

And she is most definitely mine.

Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Fire

Overall 4 stars
Performance 4.5 stars
Story 3.5 stars

Natasha Knight always has a way of getting me invested in stories that I would normally shy away from. She challenges and pushes me out of my comfort zone by creating intriguing stories filled with morally ambiguous characters. On the outside I should despise these characters, but as the story unfolds, it's not so black and white. This arranged marriage, age gap, mafia romance will have the reader/listener on the edge of their seat trying to figure out Stefan and Gabriela's secrets. Both have traumatic pasts that have left them guarded and wary of who to trust. The forced proximity helps them see each other in a new light at times, but make no mistake, this is not a sweet romance. Wen Ross and Mackenzie Cartwright give wonderful performances as Stefan and Gabriela. There are some very emotional scenes, and both handled them very well. Collateral is a duet, so be ready for the cliffhanger! I can't wait to see how Stefan and Gabriela's story concludes.

Author has written something readable for a change

I liked Natasha Knight's Salvatore & Dominic books but after those it seemed she wrote only worse and worse to the point where the books got so stupid in their dialogue (inner or not) that I checked her out of my favourite dark romance authors. Finally she has written something worth reading though even this isnt a jewel. Had she put this in one volume it propably would have received 4 stars from me at least based on this book's quality. Narrators do good job. I already started listening Damage, the second part of the duet but am considering whether to return it or not because the virgin heroine:
H: Come with my tongue in your a$$**** and my fingers in your c**t. You like me licking your a$$****? Say it! Tell me how much you liked it when I licked your a$$****?
h: I loved you licking my a$$****
After this basic sex is still too much in Hero's opinion because heroine is so sweet & innocent. Now I dont remember if smut in Dominic started this way too but at least nowadays it only sounds stupid. And thus I now know I will ask refund from part 2 Damage. What I hate is this modern way of splitting books that has left me with part of the story. I refuse to pay for crap even though I am already invested in the story.

Bring it on!

Some authors bring it with every release, and no matter what book I have listened to, Natasha Knight consistently brings it on! This first book in the Collateral Damage series is amazing. It's not your typical mafia romance! Stefan Sabbioni has seeking some revenge on the Marchese family, and what better way than to marry Gabriela? This story is full of intrigue, heartbreak, and a slow burn that is smoldering! Knight with her intricate plots includes so much, weaving a plot that kept me coming back for more. The family dynamic is brutal, one minute thinking there may be hope, only to hear something so tragic, it breaks your heart. Gabriela is a strong willed woman, and promises to be an evenly matched adversary to Stefan, though he is much more confident in his abilities. Stefan, though dark and brooding has a compassionate side that we are seeing glimpses of. The story leaves us on a major cliffhanger, just ramping up the anticipation for the next book in the series! I can't wait to see where these two end up, and how they get there. There is going to be some major shakedowns and I am excited!

Knight casts her stories with care, and this team chosen could not have been better picked. Wen Ross can be the romantic alpha, and in the next breath, give Stefan an evilness not rivaled by any other. He adds in that occasional chuckle that is swoonworthy! Mackenzie Cartwright adds so much to depth to Gabriela. I love her way of adding attitude and fierceness to her personality without losing the naivete! It's so good!

Brilliant!!! Need the Conclusion ASAP!!!

After recently discovering Natasha Knight, I have been on a binge the last few days and Collateral was nothing short of amazing. These arranged marriage mafia books are quickly becoming a go to favorite of mine. I enjoy the twists and turns and surprises and how things are not at all what they seem. The lies, betrayal and deceit...bring it on!!!

Gabriela is supposed to marry Stefan in order for Stefan to have more control over Gabriela's father. Gabriela is essentially going from one ruthless controller (her father) to another (her fiance). Despite this unconvential arrangement, Stefan has moments of kindness and compassion, and although he tells Gabriela he does not want to hurt her, history has taught her to trust no one. She has already experienced so much violence and loss.

I found this book to be highly engaging. I enjoyed trying to figure out what was going to happen, but like only the great authors can do, I was left stumped as to where this story will go. I am saddened by where this book was left at the end in terms of the cliffhanger with Gabriela's best friend Alex, but I know that just means that book two, Damage, is going to be amazing. I cannot wait to see what happens between Gabriela, her dad, Stefan and even what role Rafa plays in this story.

This was my first listen by Wen Ross and I must say I am really digging his deep voice. I would definitely like to listen to more books narrated by him and I think he did a great job as Stefan. This was my second listen by Mackenzie Cartwright and she is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. She can really do these types of books well and I enjoy listening to her voice. I found this audiobook to be a highly enjoyable listen!!! #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

This is only the beginning

The chemistry between Gabriela and Stefan is intense. You are equal parts worried for her as you are hoping their passion will fully ignite. And that cliffhanger. Forget it, I’m dead. I have so much I need to know.

Just so flipping good!

Awesome Narration

Mafia romance... full of deception and suspense

Part of a duet… “Collateral” begins as a story of revenge. Stefan Sabbioni is hell bent on exacting justice for his brother’s death, and what better way than to force his enemy’s hand to an arranged marriage between the feuding families. Gabriela is the innocent pawn, trying to escape both her father’s plans and her new captor’s mysterious motives. There is a slow build to the story, as Stefan discovers the truth behind all that Gabriela has endured, and in turn, Gabriela sees for herself not everything or everyone is what they seem to be. And although this is a mafia “romance”, there are only a few scenes between the two where an intimate moment occurs and an attraction starts to bloom, so we will have to wait and see how this love story transpires in book two. For now, we are treated to layers of angst, deception and suspenseful action that lead to a climactic cliffhanger that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Mackenzie Cartwright and Wen Ross are so captivating in their performance. They were the perfect duo to bring these characters to life, giving strength and tenacity to Gabriela, and the total alpha badass and swoon factor for Stefan.

Intriguing, Unpredictable Romance Story

This book was full of fun, unexpected events and some romance. The story line was great, and kept me hooked the entire time. The narrator was excellent, not distracting from the story at all. I never knew what to expect with this book, and I love it! With such a thrilling ending, I can't wait to see what the next part of the duet brings! I haven't read/listened to anything by this author but I'm off now to see what else this author has to offer! #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

intense

This story is so intriguing! Mystery, mafia, darkness. Gabriela grew up in the Marchese family Mafia. She's seen so much violence in her 18 years.
Stefan Sabioni makes a contract with her father to marry Gabriela . She doesn't know if her life is going to be worse or would she be better off staying with her abusive father. This is so intense . It's like a cat and mouse game, Stefano and Gabriela feeling each other out. What makes each other tick. Natasha Knight has written a story that kept my attention but what a cliffhanger . Wen Ross and Mackenzie Cartwright narration was very intense and emotional, they kept me so involved in the story. 🎧audiobookobsessionreview🎧

Compelling, dark, and provocative

Collateral is the first half of a duet of books in this "Arranged Marriage" Mafia Romance. I can't wait to get my hands on the second book. Make no mistake, this is a dark and provocative book set in a world that views women as objects subject to contract marriages. The dual narration is fantastic, the plot is unpredictable, and the characters are wonderfully written.

Pleasantly Surprised

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I thought there would be a bunch of sex scenes like Knights Willow Sisters books but there wasn’t. I enjoyed those as well but sometimes it’s nice not to read/listen to a bunch of those scenes.

Gabriela thinks Stefan is just like her father but it’s clear that he isn’t. I wish she would have given up some of her fight because it’s clear Stefan isn’t as bad as she thinks he is....well towards her anyway. The ending of the book, I wanted to reach in and shack some sense into Gabriela because I honestly don’t think he did what she thinks he did. Overall, I really enjoyed the listen.

Knight did a great job and writing it. And of course Wen and Mackenzie did a great job narrating!

Suspenseful and captivating.

Everything about this book took my breath away. There was so much push and pull between Stefan and Gabriella it was almost excruciating at times- an overall captivating story so powerful and so much love although I didn’t always feel that connection between them.
The narrators deliver this book with so much emotion and just perfection.

Great Story of Gabby and Stef

This was a great story of Gabriela being held from one man to another. Her father is a bad a man who forces her hand to marriage to Stef a Silician Mobster. We learn about her life. You get the feeling she is falling for Stef but refuses to admit it. Stef is a bad man or a monster according to Gabby. We slowly learn more about his life. This is a slow burn of love. Enemies to lovers perhaps. Now I need to find Damage to finish the story as this left us at a cliffy.

Wen Ross and Mackenzie Cartwright are truly amazing narrators. Wen is one of my favorites when it comes to the bad mafia type books. Mackenzie is becoming a super favorite as well. I love these two together.

Collateral

Gabriela finds herself in one bad situation after another. Her father is a cruel man, but at least she knows what to expect from him. He tries marrying her off but she runs and he comes after her and her capture is not a nice one. Upon arriving back at home her father and Stefan Sabbioni inform her she is now going to be marrying him. and he will be back to pick her up in the morning. He is handsome but more dangerous than her father and she has no way to escape. The narration is nice. and the story is interesting and keeps you going.

Fantastic Arranged Mafia Marriage

This is book 1 of a duet that ends on a massive cliffhanger! I think this is the cleanest book one read of Natasha Knight! The character are real and likable! I can't help but hope Stefan and Gabriella find love among the power plays and chaos! The narrators did an excellent job! A big thank you to Audio Book Obsession for gifting me this audio!!

Great mafia romance!

Wooooaahhhh!! I tell ya, when I need something a bit taboo. Something dark and spicy. I turn to Natash Knight, and Collateral is exactly why. It's a bit messed up. A whole lot sinister. This has everything I love in it plus... mafia romance!! Then, there's that cliffy and I'm thrilled I can dive right into Damage.

The narration by Mackenzie Cartwright and Wen Ross took this story up another notch. Ross has that perfect voice for a mafia book. He's controlling and strong. Cartwright played Gabby to a T!! She sounds gullible and young. However, theres an underlying strength to her.

Anti-hero love

Audiobook review. Natasha Knight has a talent for making difficult, flawed, and ruthless men appealing. Here we have a vengeful man using an innocent girl and I still found myself rooting for him. I enjoyed hearing Stefan’s development and the protective side of him that Gabriella brought out. This book isn’t overly sexual but rather it builds up the tension between the main characters.

The plot kept me engaged and used suspense in strategic places. The writing/diction and editing was solid. Secondary characters were used effectively to move the story forward or to add another layer to the crisis.

The narrators, Wen Ross and Mackenzie Cartwright, performed flawlessly with great tone, pitch, and pace. They put feeling into the words, accented by infections and it enhanced the experience.
