Absolutely wonderful!

The author did an incredible job presenting this info. He was extremely clear, informative, and unbiased. He often presented CBT in a wider context in terms of what other approaches were available and what the research supported. I always felt like he was an incredibly smart honest objective teacher whose ultimate goal was simply giving people the best tools available and was open about what is yet to be fully understood.

His voice is unbelievable! It's so kind I could've listened to him reciting 100 bottles of beer on the wall! Thankfully the content was just as excellent.

The case studies were really interesting and a nice way to see CBT at work in someone else's situation.

Highly recommend.

This book was used for a graduate class of mine. I started listening it before the semester started and learned so much just from the first four chapters. I never knew much about CBT except some basics. This book was great at describing some basic details that are pertinent to providing CBT.

Necessary Listening in the 21th Century

This is a book that should be listen by every member of the psychological community. It should be mandatory listening for every LMFT, LCSW, and PhD student who wants to practice therapy in the 21th Century. It does not make any difference how long you have been practicing. You will benefit from this update and review of the basic concepts. The interactive client method is very important to the success of this book. You may not agree with author's approach, but your skills will be greatly sharpened by your counter arguments to her methods and approaches. You can easily incorporate your experience and approach within the structure she uses. A little more on the many alternatives and expansions using CBT would have been useful, however. But, there are many other books that cover the multitude of newer applications to this basic theory to fill that gap. If you are teaching a graduate level course to students who will be actually practicing counseling then you really should use this as a text or standard reference to help the student understand the reality of what CBT is in the market place and the world of today.

Great Book for CBT therapists

This book is a great manual for therapists who use CBT. The book teaches therapists how to strengthen and/or repair the therapeutic alliance, how to identify, evaluate and modify automatic thoughts, intermediate beliefs and core beliefs. The biggest strength of the book is that it helps therapists structure and pace each session alongside providing a wide array of interventions for almost all possible situations. I will certainly be referring back to this book throughout my career. Thank you author!
