Publisher's Summary

What Detective Brady St. John really needs is a relaxing vacation. Unfortunately, just as the sun is setting on his second day at a friend's cabin on Lake Henley, he hears a scream and races to rescue a woman from her would-be killer. When the killer escapes only to return to finish the job, Brady vows to utilize all of his many resources to keep her safe - and catch those who would see her dead.

Financial crimes investigator Emily Chastain doesn't trust many people. And even though she let the detective who saved her life in on a few pertinent facts about why she was being attacked, there are some things you just don't share with a stranger. Little does she suspect that the secret she is keeping just might get them both killed.

Best-selling and award-winning author Lynette Eason sends listeners on a race for the truth in this heart-stopping story of risk, regret, and redemption.

Narrator is TERRIBLE

I listen to 5 audible books a week! I am so disappointed because Lynette Eason is my favorite! I could barely get through this because of the narrator!!!! Terrible , Sounds likes she is whining and shaking her goice constantly!!!

Second time around

This is the second time I listened to this book. I actually enjoyed it more because I picked up things I missed the first time around. I was hoping there would be more St. John novels in this series. I guess not.

one of the very best!

Thoroughly enjoyed the entire story. I especially loved the way the heroine led the bad guy to Christ!

Good but too much religion

The reader did a great job. The story wasn't bad. But can I have a good romance novel about a noble, caring, loving family that doesn't also center on their religious beliefs. I know plenty of good cops and their families that don't need god to be good. It didn't come across in a passive apart of the story manner this time. I don't mind when it is passively apart of the story, but I saw no indication this was a faith based romance novel prior to purchase. Which again isn't necessarily a problem. It purely just felt forced and pushed above and beyond the necessary for the story. Again, a very religious character or a few are not bad by any means, it just came across more as an editorial opinion in those portions rather than an authentic portrayal of the characters. Rarely does a romance novel cause me to role my eyes but this one did, repeatedly. However this is purely just my opinion.

Very disappointed

I normally enjoy Lynette Eason’s books but this protagonist was terrible and I thought the story was so far exaggerated that it made me impatient for it to end. I finally went to next to last chapter and moved it midway through that....whew, finished

Wonderful

Another fantastic book in the series!! I love these people, they feel like my friends and that makes me invested in them. I don’t really like how Callie hesitated before saying each name but not letting that bother me too much when I listen.

Awesome!

This book is so good! The family of characters is wonderful. The suspense grabbed me and held me all the way through and the romance added a warm touch. The narration is very good.
