Alan looks back on his early life with affection and sadness, revisiting some of the themes and conversations of his memoir 'A Life Like other People's'. But when they do, finally, have cocktail parties, they are not at all what his mother would have envisaged....

Loved it!

I'm new to Alan Bennett's works and I wish I had discovered his work earlier. Funny, poignant description of his life with his parents. The narration was excellent also - the similarity b/w Alan Bennet's voice and Alex Jennings' impression of it was uncanny.
