Publisher's Summary

Bookish, snarky, and fiercely independent Nate Boudreaux leads a solitary life. Between teaching classes at the university and working toward his PhD, he doesn’t need a partner to occupy his time, and he certainly doesn’t need a man like Alistair Drake complicating his future.

Alistair Drake, black sheep of the tremendously wealthy Drake family, is more interested in adding another notch to his bedpost than another zero to his bank account. When a Grindr message brings him to Nate’s doorstep, then straight to his bed, he has no reason to believe that what they share will be more than a simple hookup, until, three months later, a tug on his soul informs him otherwise.

For the Drake family has a secret - one that will force Nate and Alistair together as much as it will demand that they be torn apart. One that Alistair and his brothers have carried all their lives...and one that Alistair and Nate’s future children will carry, too.

Bound to each other by the three precious impossibilities, Nate and Alistair have no choice - no matter the consequence, they will fight for their forbidden clutch.

Clutch is a 64,000 word steamy omegaverse mpreg-ish romance that will leave you in stitches. It contains a Grindr hook-up gone very wrong (or very right), giant magical lizards, a pig named Olive, a wank throne, and a HEA, right down to the white picket fence.

Strange but fun

Nate has a random hook up with Alistair, a dragon in human form, and ends up laying a clutch of 3 beautiful eggs. I do enjoy this crazy series, although I thought Bond (book 2) was more fun. Clutch and Bond cover much the same story told from different viewpoints. Michael Ferraiuolo really does bring the characters to life!

PERFECTION!

The most perfect pairing of Authors and Narrator. I have enjoyed every single moment of this story. Humour, sweet romance and family bickering all brought to life.
I will never tire of listening to this Audible- EVER!

So good!

This story is fun and sexy, with some wonderfully heartfelt moments mixed in. I enjoyed Nate and Alistair's growth from one night stand to eventually becoming mates. Their shared concern for their eggs was sweet. The cast of characters is large and interesting, and I can't wait for the other books I've already enjoyed to be released in audio format. The narrator did a wonderful job bringing this book to life. I highly recommend this to fans of paranormal tales and romantic comedy. Loved it!

Lovely performance

I loved this story when it first came out and this performance by new-to-me narrator Michael Ferraiuolo has added a delightful layer to an already great fantasy. I love the accents and the tones of voice that the actor imbues these characters with. Quite a lovely ride in a world where dragons can impregnate humans and those humans can lay eggs that become dragons. I like Ignatius 'Nate' Boudreaux, the snarky omega, and Alistair Drake, the sweet, successful-against-the-odds runt-of-his-clutch alpha, even more now that they've been given life in this performance. A full-on fantasy that is quite satisfyingly enriched by the acting, with a lot of world-building action interspersed with sweet mate-bonding.

I wish I could of given the narration more stars

The below review is very similar to the book review I posted. The audible version is so good, I think this may be the first time I’ve wanted to give more than 5 stars. Michael Ferraiuolo’s narration brought to life all the things I loved about the book. Alistair’s, Sebastian’s, and Everard’s snotty attitudes. Harry’s wonder and joy with life. Nate’s bemusement over EGGS. Really well done.

This book was a joy from beginning to end. Nate and Alistair so belonged together. Nate toned down Alastair’s want to be in control and Nate’s feisty personality came to the forefront in dealing with his mate.

The premise of the book is that dragons are (normal), eggs are (normal), mate bonds are (normal and so hot). So much happening in this book it’s hard not to give to much away.

The other characters are well fleshed out and added so much to the story. Even Olive the pig had a personality. However, Olive eating twice cooked pork is so not cool.

I enjoy Mpreg (even though this was very different). I’m very eager for the next book.

Absolutely Delightful

This was my first omegaverse read, so when this came out in audio, I didn't even wait for it to Whyspersync and used a coveted credit. I am here to to tell you - it was SO worth it! These authors first introduced me to this genre and I knew it was a must read when I saw everyone buzzing about it! I’m going to tell you I may be hooked. This story had a lot going for it, first the authors Piper Scott and Virginia Kelly (Lynn Van Dorn) - amazing. Second - dragons, knotting, mating, eggs (Meggs), and super hot sexy times! This was sexy, funny (guys I legit laugh snorted in PUBLIC while listening at the grocery store), and with some feels thrown in. If you haven’t read omegaverse in the past, this may be the book for you, and if you have this is THE book for you. I’m sure you’ve seen everyone raving about what an awesome job that Michael Ferraiuolo did with narrating Clutch and they are all so right!! Seriously this was a fantastic read, an amazing listen and I so happy the next book, Bond is already out in audio so I can slip right into Everard, Harry and Steve's story!

Perfect!

This is one of my favourite books, so when I heard that it would be in audio, and there was no hint of the narrator, I worried. I really wanted to enjoy the characters I'd already grown to love - Nate (Iggy), Alistair, Harry and Ev (especially the latter 2).
When it came out on July 4th, (as a transplanted Brit, it is not a holiday I readily identify with, for ... reasons ...), I was happily surprised; when I saw the narrator- Michael Ferraiuolo, very pleased; when I listened, extremely pleased and when I heard Harry personified, I was ecstatic!
This is going to be an audiobook I listen to again and again. Mr. Ferraiuolo does a fantastic job with all the characters - there is no dissecting what was done well, etc. The entire narration is PERFECT! (well, the way Alistair is pronounced is a little different from what I'm used to, but no matter). I am hoping that the next 2 books will be available soon, and with Mr. Ferraiuolo
Ms. Scott and Kelly, your *clutch* landed in the right hands! Loved it!

Hilarious Love

I can’t believe I bought this book and returned it, thank goodness I bought it again. Can I just say that Michael Ferraiuolo had me laughing out loud the way he brought the all the characters to life. Piper and Virginia wrote a very funny, steamy and touching shifter mpreg book that should not be missed.

Boring until after the halfway mark

Update to review

So after stepping away from what appeared to be a snoozefest of a book, convinced i had better things to do but finish it, i gave it one last shot.

So i kinda like it now.

Why does all the plot, romance, tension, action, character building, world building, softening of the main character, actually sexy eroticism and the introduction of new and interesting side characters only start happening after the halfway mark for this book?

I knew this book had all the building blocks of something i would like and was absolutely frustrated that there just was no hook after getting significantly through it.
I won't forgive that and do still believe the author could have done more for a reader to want to keep trudging forward.
There was no hint to a plot or progress so far in the book that i was convinced it wasn't going to be better.
So I'm keeping up my old review just to reflect how that feeling originated from.

So in saying all that. The plot and characters finally getting some development was awesome.

I want more of that weird dragon obsessed friend! So i looked forward and saw that the next book features him and am totally excited.

Once your past the boring first half of this book, the plot and romance is a real treat. I was finally getting invested in the main character and his romantic interest. It was just so sexy and pure that i had to keep reading.
The overall plot that finally started was also enough to keep me concerned to see what would happen and how these guys would find out to work through it.

Stellar book and glad i came back to it. Just wish the book did more in the beginning to want to capture a new reader as i could totally understand someone never returning to see the actual awesomeness this book has to offer when the first half of the book was so bad.

Old review is below

Could not finish

So, i could not understand some of the trusted reviewers praise about this book.
I tried to be open minded and to understand what someone would find appealing about this book to avoid a abrasive review. Unfortunately i just couldn't understand what in the world anyone would find appealing avout this book.

I love shifters, romance, fantasy and mpreg. So this book had all the building blocks of potential greatness to me and i was absolutely looking forward to it. Also unfortunately, the story and poor writing was not adequate and would not be able to deliver this as to even me slightly entertaining.

The beginning of the book is a weird hook with an abrasive Erotic scene that does little for you to get attached to a character when the author it seems is trying everything in their power to make you hate the main character. Oddly enough this harsh portrayal and character building, of what has to be the most unlikable main character ive ever read about, continues and just doesn't stop. I hate this character more and more and just keep hoping there is something for me to grasp onto to hopefully find some reason to care.

Unfortunately half way into the book it never comes. Also unfortunately the story is just not enough either because it was boring, bland and tiresome when you get the same tiresome commentary of the unlikable main character.

I could not finish this book, i just was not interested enough to want to force myself to continue. If the writing isnt able to grab me at 50% with an interesting plot or a romance then i wont torture myself by continuing to not be entertained.

The entire plot is the romance and the abrasive quirkyness of a new relationship it seems.

I would not recommend this unless you absolutely have a itch to scratch for mpreg.

loved it

Would I listen to it again: yes
Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: yes

Story comment: Delightfully entertaining. Fun, light, little drama with a great variation on the usual dragon shifter lore. I enjoyed watching Nate and Alistair grow into their relationship and thoroughly enjoyed their interaction and banter.

Narrator comment: I cant imagine a better narrator for this book. Michael Ferraiuolo's narration style is perfect for this series. Each character has a separate voice to the narrative that reflects the character's personality perfectly. His rhythm, inflections and intonations all work to bring the story to life.

I'm diving straight into Book 2

Michael hits this one out of the park

Let me first explain that I hate the omegaverse and dislike mpreg as a genre. I don't read or listen to them because... well, not my thing.

So I've struggled for the last year with wanting to listen to this book - for one reason and one reason only - Michael Ferraiuolo. I love his narration style and have loved everything I've heard from him. So when Clutch was announced as available on Audible in a social media group I was on, and knowing how I felt about the genre, I downloaded the book to see if I could stomach it. I could not. So I tried to ignore that one of my fave narrators had something I was not going to listen to. And then another book in the series came out. And another. It was a bit like being hit with a continual reminder of a Michael book I couldn't listen to. (Far too annoying.)

So with everything in lockdown and needing a break from some hard hitters I've been listening to, I threw caution to the wind and purchased Clutch.

The story cannot stand on its own legs for me. It was okay and had several plot holes. HUGE GAPING PLOT HOLES. And then there was the whole genre-specific omegaverse stuff I dislike. However, I found myself smiling or laughing for the most part because of the voices and inflections the narrator used, and the story left me with NEEDING to hear Harry & Everard's story, so it deserves at minimum 3 stars.

Michael's performance was, as always, incredibly fantastic. From the different voices (of which Harry's was my favorite) to the way he reads - the words flowing so well, which many narrators can't seem to do, I listened to this book in 2 sittings.

There was one major issue the writers could not have foreseen that came through incredibly bad in audio. Two main characters with names so similar that I could never tell when the narrator was saying "Perry" or when he said "Harry".

So 5 stars for narration and 3 stars for the story leaves with a good 4 star review.

Now... onto Harry & Everard's story.

OMG- Cannot say enough about the narrator

I was hesitant about this storyline (the mpreg thing) but OMG I am so glad I bought this audiobook. The story is SO SO SO SO funny! The characters - ALL the characters - are clever and interesting. The plot is also engaging without too much angst or drama. (I love an alpha who isn't all "ALPHA ALPHA ALPHA")
But the true star of this audiobook is Michael Ferraiuolo. I just cannot believe how perfectly he acted all of these roles. Giving each character an identity with perfect affect for each conversation and event that occurred. The authors wrote the words but this guy .. this guy made them real. I plan on buying all of the books , even though I am out of credits for the year, JUST because of him. .. ok it has a little bit to do with writing (or a lot!) I sincerely hope that Ms. Scott & Ms. Kelly continue to work together ..they are going to be my go-to duo after Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy (Because Him *sigh*)

Great start - looking forward to the rest of the series!

Fantastic start to the series - a whole new world with dragons and mates and magic, beautifully written and (once I got over the voice reading it not being mine!) fantastically narrated. I particularly love Harry and his voice, although I’m fairly certain Seb is Chris Hemsworth!!
After the initial shock of finding that dragons exist, and he’s birthed eggs, Nate Boudreaux has a turbulent introduction to the laws, family and world of his eggs’ sire, Alistair. With ups and downs, and old feuds, the constant is his bond to his eggs and, as it develops, to their father.

Great Book and Great Audio

Piper Scott and Virginia Kelly are an instant-click for me in print, and now it seems they will be in audio as well. This was my first audiobook narrated by Michael Ferraiuolo and I was extremely impressed. To start, Clutch is a fantastic story. It is incredibly unique - set in omegaverse where mpreg exists, the omega MC Nate is simply looking for someone to help through his heat without any complications of strings. The alpha, Alistair, is looking for a similar hookup but has his own hidden secret; he is a dragon capable of impregnating an omega with eggs. By accident and chance Nate gets knocked (egged?) up, with some pretty serious consequences to follow. Nate is sassy, opinionated, and willing to do whatever is needed to keep his egg babies safe. While he did not ever expect to have an omega or a clutch, Alistair is similarly inspired to protect his new family, and his possessive streak - innate, it seems, to dragons - develops. Ferraiuolo does a fantastic job of creating a series of voices for a pretty big cast, somehow making each distinct and suitable to the character. From Nate's soft but strong tone, to Alistair's drawling upper-crust British accent, to the sarcastic undertones of Everard and the bookish Harry - each character's voice is chosen with care and precision, and perfectly fits. I cannot express how much I look forward to further partnerships between these authors and narrator.

Superb from start to finish.<br />

I loved this book when I first read it, so snapped up the audio version when released.
I wasn't disspointed.
Michael Ferraiuolo does one of the best narrations I've heard. Each character is voiced so differently that it is easy to know who was speaking at any given time and with four regular plus a series of secondary characters that must of been quite a task.
I absolutely loved this audio version and really hope Ferraiuolo will be doing the rest of the series.

So good!

My first Dragon shifter book and I loved it! The characters are so dynamic, bold and often hilarious. I loved Nate's sass, protectiveness, and fire. He's a great character and the perfect match for the sweet and often clueless Alistair.

I didn't know what to expect from this book or these authors but was pleasantly surprised and draw in from the first sentence. The writing style is captivating and the characters so unique and vibrant I couldn't help but love them right from the start. I loved the dynamics between Nate and Alistair and how their relationship evolved over time. I felt they were well matched and liked the slower progress to their mating.

I loved Alistair's cluelessness and how he would take what Nate said literally! It leads to some hilarious scenes!

My favorite character would have to be Harry though. Nate's nerdy, inquisitive, overzealous former roommate and best friend. All Harry's interactions are hilarious and endearing I can't wait for his story!!!

Great story, wonderful adventure, and fantastic narration! A definite winner for me!!!

Thanks for reading!

Very unique and fun

This is nothing like I've ever listened to before so the uniqueness of it really captivated me. It jumps right into the action from page one and gets more interesting as it goes on!! A few parts really caught me off guard and while this isn't my usual read I really enjoyed it. Both boys quickly grew on me and they were really hot together. I'm generally a big fan of this narrator however for this one I felt like he played Allistair's voice a little too bored. Which did work for the character however it came off as a little too monotone for me.

Funny and entertaining!

OMG…So funny! A snarky omega, a dragon shifter alpha, one wild night, and an unexpected clutch lead to a wild, fantastic adventure. I loved the characters, the comedic family relations, and Harry…oh Harry. An internet hook-up leads to unexpected consequences and a possibility of love and family. Very enjoyable! I can’t wait to listen to more in this series.

Good narration and emotional delivery.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook through the author and have voluntarily left this honest review.

A Lovely Surprise!

Nate is one cute, snarky human omega and Alistair is an brooding dragon shifter alpha. Their lives both changes when Nate gives birth to a forbidden clutch of eggs.
This audiobook book is truly a pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend this listen!
