Publisher's Summary

A secret society of immortals lives within the human world. Kane is one of them, a Sensor who experiences emotional energy through touch. But despite his good looks and easygoing personality, Kane lives a solitary life. Unlike other Sensors, he is unnaturally hypersensitive. Fate throws a curveball when a woman's life is placed in Kane's hands. He is suddenly faced with making a choice, and each comes with a consequence that will wreck him forever. Time is not on his side. Will this woman be his salvation or his ruination?

Unique setting

Any additional comments?

Unique situation but a beautiful relationship buildup. Kane & Caroline's story is set in the breed world but doesn't contain any of Dannika's prior characters. Short quick read that takes place under a very unique situation.

Touching

This was just a really sweet poignant tale about two people connecting in the worst of circumstances. I couldn't turn it off.

Amazing!!!

Absolutely the best book in the series. I listened to the whole thing in one sitting and was unable to sleep. Will definitely listen to this again.

always!

I have all the books by Dannika Dark and I love every single one of them, this short book is no exception. I want more! Also Nicole Poole is probably my favorite narrator.

Loved this short Novella!

Loved this short Novella! I loved the Mageri series so much that when I saw there was a short novella based in the Mageri world I had to check it out.  In Shine the last Mageri book we got introduced to Sunny’s brother very briefly while Silver is with Logan at Breed jail.  This short novella explains how Sunny’s brother Kane ends up in breed jail.  It will also explain who Kane who is a Sensor and Caroline who is also a Sensor meet and end up falling in love.  Definitely loved this story and would like to read more about them in the future.

You made me cry.

A bit dry but always different from all other stories which keep bringing back to the authors writing.

Only 7 chapters slightly disappointed

I really love Dannika Dark this was a great read but to unexpectedly short. I would have like it more if we dove more into the story of Kane since it is such a good one.

5 Closer Stars

If you read the Mageri series then you already know Kane is Sunny’s brother. The jail scene in the last book has always been on my mind. Why Kane? How's the girl? Even the first time I read the books it was always a question I wanted to know.

Well if I had known Closer was going to give me those answers I would have picked it up a heck of a lot faster than I did.

Kane a Sensor, who knew, I won’t give you details it’s a short story so pick it up. But I hope to see a reunion with Sunny and the twins and Uncle Kane. This novella really ties in that whole jail scene and why it was or had to be Kane.

Can we just lock Dannika in a room so she can give us more of these amazing characters? Is that asking too much? lol Yeah I know it is but damn this just makes me want to have more, more, more.

Again great narration! Can’t say enough good things about Nicole Poole’s performance.

Too short but good, great pairing Dark and Poole.

Loved it but again too short. I am hoping for more with the mageri characters and the keystone characters. I am also a fan of the pairing of Nicole Poole reading Dannika Dark books, she brings the characters to life.

Nothing worse than a great story and an oful narrator, I have a few audible books that I disregarded for an ebook to read rather than listen to a terrible story teller.

Great book to listen to

This was a great book to listen to. It starts out with a woman in trouble with only one way out that is safe. Kane is all but not looking for trouble in the town he likes but trouble fines him and he take not let it go because of what the trouble was and will be if he lets it go. The first time he touches the person he found out that he has kills women before and Kane can not let him life to kill again. Kane took the guys keys and drive his car. Kane found a woman in the trunk of the car and she was out so he took her to a house to see if he could get her to wake up but she would not wake up it was a day or two. Kane got worry for her but did not know how to help her. After the second day some people take and broke down the door and put Kane in cuffs and took him away but before he was taken he told the woman that he loved her and come back to him. Now would be the best time to buy the book or get it to listen too. Will worth it to have.

Tragically romantic

Any additional comments?

Kane is the kind of man who keeps his life simple and secluded. His gift as a Sensor is too much for him to handle and his relationships with others suffer because of it. When he comes face to face with a human killer who specializes in the brutality of women, there is only one thing he can do. That action sparks off a chain of events that lead him to somewhere he thought he’d never go and that isn’t just Breed jail.

This insular part of the series is Kane’s story, and it is beautifully told, highly emotional, and really brings Kane into the world that Dark has created. The romance is laced with tragedy which really brings out the tears but it is beautiful, nonetheless.
