Shilling shocker enthusiast Stevenson was celebrated throughout his life. In contrast to Mary Shelley, who was often overshadowed by her husband's work, Stevenson lived comfortably by his pen.
It was only with the release of Frankenstein that Shelley finally distinguished herself. Frankenstein was groundbreaking in its ability to fuse passion and romance with gore and horror.
Narrated by Dan Stevens, who rose to fame through Downton Abbey, and Beauty and the Beast, the story of science student Victor Frankenstein has been artfully retold.
Testing the limits of science, Frankenstein fashions a living being from the conjoined body parts of rotting cadavers. Horrified at the end result, he abandons his monster, leaving him to endure a life of isolation and loneliness.
A poignant example of human weakness and our inability to take responsibility for our actions, Frankenstein is both moving and terrifying.
That leads us to the gruesome tale of Count Dracula, the bloodthirsty father of the undead.
Narrated by Greg Wise, star of The Crown and Sense and Sensibility; Greg depicts a young lawyer whose services are hired by a sinister Transylvanian count.
Releasing Dracula 80 years after Frankenstein, Bram Stoker was greatly influenced by Shelley's writing style and similarly propels the story along through diary entries, letters and newspaper cuttings. Possessed of grisly imagery and unexpected twists, it's no wonder that Dracula still manages to shake us to our very core.
All that remains is to offer a note of caution: this collection is not for the fainthearted. Old as these tales may be, do not mistake the unsettling nature of their content.
Grab some popcorn, turn the speakers up and enjoy. Just don't say we didn't warn you.

Jekle and Hyde was a revelation, beautifully written and read with an uncanny eb and flow
frankanstine was at times ponderous and repetitive and at times heart breaking and engaging. the monster's voice seemed breathy and effeminate. it sort of failed the belivabity test for me. I think it worked better as a reflection on psychotic mental illness than anything else. Dracula was amazing and compelling... it had so much to offer at lots of levels and domains . great narration

audio is best.
I am very glad I got the audio edition, having it read aloud made it so much easier to get through, although Dracula was exceedingly tedious. However it was good to listen to the original stories that have inspired so many wonderful books, TV series and movies. But however slow they were they were still good stories which is why they were so inspiring.

A mixed bag
Whilst familiar with pop culture references to Frankenstein, Dracula and Jekyll and Hyde, I had never read the original stories.
Jekyll and Hyde was short and sweet. The story wasn't quite as I expected although close yo my understanding but it was well perfomed.
Frankstein was not at all like I imagined and I really struggled with the story. The voices were whiny and characters unlikeable. it just seemed to drag on and I did not enjoy it at all.
Dracula however was fantastic. although not quite what I thought it would be the story was engaging and entertaining and the performance was excellent.

3 classics written from 100 years ago
great performances that meet the classic tales from Stevenson, Shelley and Stoked. All three tales still resonate with present day, you can only marvel at the genius of each writer and in awe of the fact that each tale is so relevant despite being over 100 years old

Perhaps if you're having trouble sleeping
I didn't get all the way through this entire collection. I found the first narrator (for Dr Jeckyl & Mr Hyde) was extremely monotone. The few attempts at a change of voice was just adding a bit of gravel to the current tone.
I listened to about half of Frankenstein, but found this to also be quite a dull listen, as such I only listened to half of this. The narrator was better than the first, but I just didn't enjoy listening.
The stories overall are good, they're classics, but the delivery of them wasn't so much.
I usually listen to audible while driving, but found that these books were making me drowsy. So if you need to get to sleep, these might help!!

Thoroughly enjoyed.
All books are well read.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to these original version of these classic stories. Made me realise how much is cut out when they turn them into movies.

Voice Acting Excellent
I really enjoyed the voice acting. I've never read the originals only ever seen film adaptations. I really enjoyed Jekyll and Hyde. Although initially a little confused by Frankenstein, once it got into it I really enjoyed that too. Although the voice acting in Dracula was great I found the story itself often had me grinding my teeth and yelling "get on with it" to Bram Stoker.

Fantastic collection of classics
These books I would have struggled to read on paper, especially Dr. Jeckle and Frankstien. Availability in audio is great
