Dickens colourful and personable characters, given each there distinctive lively voice by the reader was a absolute wonder. You couldn’t hope for a better audiobook, a classic by all means.

A powerhouse of the English language

Utterly fantastic- funny and inspired and full to brimming of life ! Characters that leap off the page and seem to belong to our collective spirit. Jarvis is a A grade voice actor and Dickens is simply the best ….

Can’t believe I never read Oliver Twist!

A brilliantly written multi-layered plot with characters so real they’ll haunt your dreams or dispel your nightmares. Incisive social commentary of an era long gone yet relevant today with the eternal traits of our humanity. (p.s. Forget the musical Oliver it does no justice to this timeless immaculately crafted story). Can’t believe I’ve only just read/listened to this.

Read so wonderfully such a rich story. Everyone should listen to Charles Dickens. The wit and descriptive narrative is second to none.

varying volume is frustrating

good narration except for varying volume. so when listening to relax or before sleep, sound would be low until character voices came on and pitch and volume would increase - frustrating to listen like this

great voices, just long

Some parts dragged but nice story overall if you can get past the racism and sexism

Best Narration

A great tale told with such skill and dexterity. Definitely the best I've listened to on Audible.

Way more complex than I thought

I never had to read this in my school years, and wonder how any of us did. Was very well narrated with the voices helping make the times and conditions really clear. What a time to live in, and no wonder so many emigrated.
