Publisher's Summary

I never thought I'd be singing happy birthday to myself in a dungeon. And yet when a sinfully sexy demon crashes happy hour, that's exactly what happens. He’s known as the Lord of Chaos, and he’s mistaken me for my succubus doppelgänger.

Happy birthday to me.

When he tastes my blood, he finally understands I’m mortal. And I realize we have something in common: we both crave revenge. So we make a deal: I can stay in the forbidden city to hunt for my mom's killer. In return, I’ll help him get the vengeance he craves. I just have to pose as a sexy succubus. One problem—he's my number one suspect.

And that’s increasingly hard to remember as he teaches me my role: seduction. With each heated touch I drift further into peril. And if I fall under his seductive spell, death awaits me.

Featuring Laura C. Harris, Gabriel Michael, Nhea Durousseau, Shanta Parasuraman, Wyn Delano, Bradley Foster Smith, Colleen Delany, Daniel Llaca, Elena Anderson, James Konicek, Karen Novack, Ken Jackson, Matthew Pauli, Michael John Casey, Zeke Alton, Richard Rohan, Scott McCormick and Yasmin Tuazon.

Critic Reviews

"Laura C. Harris takes on the role of mortal Rowan--aka Mortana, the succubus--in this full-cast performance.... Listen carefully for sounds of beating wings interspersed with fire magic." (AudioFile)

Robotic sounding narration and mediocre story

I really struggled to get through the first half of the book. The second half was slightly less cringe and more interesting, but the female narrator sounded like a robot the entire time.

reading sounds like AI

This book was a struggle to get through, despite being so short. The dialogue was not very well written, and the narrator sounds robotic and has no character. The story felt rushed but then also went in to weird detail about the vegan food. Overall story was interesting and made me listen through to see what happened. Kind of feel like I wasted a credit on this one though.
