It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the 10th annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to out charm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute. The odds are against him. He’s been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low.

Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

One of my favourite book series ever!
Full of action, humour and great characters. Weaves the Greek myths into a modern day story beautifully. If you like Harry Potter, you will enjoy the Percy Jackson series. Narrator did a great job too.

Great story, average narration
Great story to read. Unfortunately I didn't like the narrator, they weren't terrible, but all the characters sounded the same, and even in different events (e.g happy, stressful, action events) the voices sounded the same, it almost made the story sound boring even though it wasn't. I think this is a book i'll want to read again but in the physical form.

it's a kids book but a solid adventure story
Look, this is a book for kids. Is it an enjoyable story that's fun for a family bedtime? No doubt. But it's very much a kids book.
That being said, it's mostly still pretty enjoyable to an adult. The characters and dialogue are charming even if the story is very simplistic. If you want that warm feeling of a brand new fantasy series for the first time during primary school lunch, this is the book for you.

Wow as someone one only watched the movies this is amazing
My only experience with this property is was the movies about 7 years ago so coming back to this before the tv show was a shock. The story is amazing 10x better then the movie, the stakes are high, and has some of the best world building I’ve ever read/heard. The only fault in it is in the first couple chapters it’s abit weird to hear a grown man’s voice a bunch of 12 year olds but after a couple chapters you don’t even notice it. A true 9/10 book would recommend to anyone who wants a good read/audiobook
