What's with the variable volume?

My kids love these stories, the choice of narrators and the adaptations are hilarious. However, why would so much effort be put in only to have the past post production leave the different stories unequalled so that the listener had to adjust the volume from story to story? These aren't small differences either a little variation is to be expected but not too quiet to hear to annoyingly loud.
