Publisher's Summary

London, 1876. Hetty Feather is just a tiny baby when her mother leaves her at the Foundling Hospital. The Hospital cares for abandoned children - but Hetty must live with a foster family until she is big enough to go to school.

Life in the countryside is hard, but she has 'brothers' Jem and Gideon to play with, and together they sneak off to visit the travelling circus.

Hetty is mesmerised by the show, especially Madame Adeline and her performing horses. When she is returned to the Foundling Hospital, the new life of awful uniforms and terrible food is a struggle for Hetty. But now she has the chance to find her real mother. Could she really be the wonderful Madame Adeline? Or is the truth even more surprising?

A delightful and utterly original take on a historical novel, this warm, funny and moving story, read by Jacqueline Wilson, will thrill her many fans.

The best Jacqueline Wilson book ever

Best book I have ever read/listened to! First of all I have to congratulate Finty Williams and Jacqueline Wilson for their incredible storytelling skills. Finty Williams has a great vocal range. She seamlessly voices each character so well that it feels like a different person is voicing each character. Next I have to applaud Jacqueline Wilson. I personally love her however this book is on another level! She is so talented at making books. Her books are funny, sad, interesting and realistic. Every word of this story is so perfect and describes every single detail. The writing is so good, I feel like I am in the brains of each character, understanding their thoughts and feelings. If you refuse to listen to this book, you are missing out on a world of enjoyment.
This was my first time reading this book. I also listened to it with my big sister who has read it about 20 times. We both enjoyed it immensely!

(a note from the big sister: I have read every single one of Jacqueline Wilsons books so many times they never get old. I'm so glad I can share the joy with my brother. I am also a huge Finty Williams fan, as I loved watching Angelina Ballerina when I was little!)
