We're eager to leave the "kid" stage, yet we're uncertain about what adolescence will bring; we start hearing the familiar refrain "wait until you're older" far too often. Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul is a companion guide for these transitional years.

Story
Current child-rearing techniques seek to develop children who are confident, self-assured, and unafraid to speak their minds-lions instead of lambs. Although largely positive, this shift has brought with it some very serious problems in our children's behavior. Without going back to an authoritarian model, Joe Newman has developed new ways of helping children develop the ability to self-regulate without undermining their confidence, and individuality.

needs boy/girl narration
it is a beautiful book with inspiring stories. however the narration was very confusing for my 2 sons to listen to; they didn't know if it was a boy or girl's story until the end. they usually thought the story about about a girl because a girl was speaking. this is disappointing because they would have got more out of it if they realised that the stories are by both boys and girls .
for kids, it would be better if the stores were narrated by 2 authors so kids can relate better.

Disappointed
This book is not inspiring or uplifting full of disappointment.
I had to explain ableism in one story, feminism in another. Toxic masculinity with boy saves girl. The story’s had some merit as lived experiences but were in extreme need for an update on presenting them.
The book outlines some yay for being a girl , oh it’s so hard to be a girl. It’s overly thick with it.
I’m usually very impressed with chicken soup books in past.
Book delivery is a melodic older female American voice. It has a calm aspect but it also plays victim whiny card. I think it could have been more powerful in a straight less acted delivery.
This book will also suit some people.
Try the sample first.
