About this listen

Fleeing with only her bow, horse, enormous pet wolf, and the cryptic clues hidden in her mother's medicine journal, healer Meg Boswell gallops north toward freedom, running from the man who falsely accused her mother of witchcraft. Cursed with magical healing abilities, Meg knows that if she's captured, she will die like her mother - atop a blazing witch's pyre.

Winter winds rip across the Highlands, pressing Chief Caden Macbain forward in his desperate plan to save his clan. He's not above using an innocent woman to bargain for peace if it keeps his clan from starving. But Meg isn't who Caden thinks she is, and when she kills a man to save the clan, he must choose between duty and her life. For although he captured her to force a peace, Meg's strength and courage have captured Caden's heart.

well written story, enough drama and humour to keep me hoiked. will definitely be looking for more from Heather McCullon.
Timothy Campbell is a great narrator.. especially when he does a Scottish accent I could listen to that voice read a shopping list 😂. He definitely is a great story teller giving life to all the characters

thoroughly enjoyed

This was well paced without a chance of the boredom that can happen in some novels. Meg was very sweet and I think with her fear being so deeply ingrained her actions were understandable. Caden was a hero even when he wasn't ment to be. capturing her was definitely the only way she was ever going to make her destination. I liked their love story Caden was protective without being obsessive, once he claimed her I was like about time ;D. I think they could have used Nickam her wolf more though.

The narrators voice was perfect for this story

This one had a similar story line to outlander and I'm not at all sad about it.

What a joy I could not put the book down until I had finished. Great narration, and absolutely captivating story. I think it tops what I’ve read to date. Brilliant.

It was a captivating story and very easy listening. Character development was very good and the story wasn’t overly descriptive (which I like).

Good flowing story

Times were tough back in that era but the same could be said for many in the present one. However, you were most likely out on your own once you were seen as a witch and no support was offered. Thank goodness for the good friends and relatives that rallied around the heroine when she needed it most. It took a while to sort everything out and I am so glad that the shefound her happy ever after.

This has been an interesting listen.
