About this listen

Mitch Rapp faces an old foe from Iran in the new thriller in Vince Flynn's #1 New York Times bestselling series, now written by bestselling author Don Bentley.

In 2011, on a remote Iranian mountain, a group of high-level officials have just witnessed the successful demonstration of a new weapons system meant to upend the American-led war in Afghanistan by essentially decimating the population.

The intelligence officer recognizes what this development signifies even if his contemporaries do not. A fellow participant seems to agree with the intelligence officer’s reticence, remarking that he wished there was someone they could tell about this madness. But there is someone the intelligence officer can tell. One man who might just make a difference.

In D.C., CIA Director Irene Kennedy presents the President with news that Bin Laden may have been found, but the President wants proof of Bin Laden's presence, and he only trusts one man to provide it.

In Pakistan, Mitch Rapp encounters Azad Ashani, director of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and Security, the master spy who once functioned as Irene Kennedy’s back channel to the Iranian government. Ashani owes Rapp, and he intends to settle his debt by providing a piece of intelligence about an American special operations team in Afghanistan, about to interdict a high value target. However, Ashani knows the new Iranian weapons plan is a trap, and to stop it, he's willing to partner with only one man: Rapp.

Lacked Rapp great action, too much waffling and the descriptive action sequences were not well written. Enjoyed the narrator.

Missed the mark

I gritted my teeth every time two major characters were in the storyline. Perhaps the new author should have researched a little more about how invested all the Mitch Rapp fans are. Sadly this novel lacked the Rapp character flair

Disappointed with out of sequence storyline

The story was enjoyable and dragged me along with its drama. A good instalment in the series and maybe even closure in one of its major themes.

The final solution

Excellent addition to the Mitch Rapp series. But I would read this as part of the chronological order if you haven’t already started this series

Fantastic

It was good to read another Mitch Rapp novel however the new author changed the Rapp character in ways I did not like. Otherwise a good read.

Mitch Rapp plays more of a cameo role in this book

Terrible story telling last Mitch Rapp book I ever purchase. When do major characters die and then reappear with no explanation

Worst Rapp ever

Where to start……. The book is out of sequence with major dead characters now alive. Very descriptive with sometimes 2-3 comparisons to make a point that is not necessary. Going back of Mitch and Irene’s history at every point, including mentioning Stan Hurley about 1/2 dozen times. It feels like the introduction to Mitch not the 30th book. Every single decision a character makes is then followed by a 5 minute description of why, how and history. Oh and where was Mitch??? Did not like this book and would be hesitant to read another along this line.

Is this really a Mitch Rapp Book?
