Publisher's Summary

It's been nine months since Kaitlyn Parker has seen or heard from Martin Sandeke - nine months and five stages of matter. She's lived through the worst of first-love heartbreak and is most certainly stronger (and less likely to hide in science cabinets) than ever before. But now Martin is back, and he wants to be friends. But he's sending mixed signals to the Bunsen burner in Kaitlyn's pants. Will Martin recapture Kaitlyn's heart? Can Kaitlyn and Martin ever be just friends? Or, despite an abundance of chemistry, are some bonds just too unstable to endure?

Nerdy is good, angsty is not

Part of the reason I was not crazy about this story is that it was drawn out into three parts. Serials are often a lot like soap operas, melodramatic and seemingly never-ending. I like my stories written more concisely and my series to be individual stories. I previously loved the Penny Reid books I read. This is the first time I couldn’t mark it higher than three stars. This three book serial could have been written as one novel.
The narration was good, she is proficient with voices and timing, a real pleasure to listen to.

Wow!!!

This was a pleasant surprise for me, I've read some if Reid's books before. This was my first listen. Well written as I've come to expect from her but this also married with an outstanding narrator performance- which quickly became an addictive listen that was hard to pause.

Good ending to the series

This was by far my favorite book in the series. I really enjoy this author overall. She did a great job with this book in having the characters find their own self worth.

Pleasant Surprise Series

This series was a really good listen. Loved this author. I loved she mixed romance with science and politics. Loved her characters. Characters with realistic issues and emotions! This is so worth investing in. The narrator was a first for me but she was wonderful,

Elements of chemistry and an absolutely clueless female lead

I disliked how clueless this character was to the obvious interest of Martin. I found her ignorance annoying. I preferred the first two books. I wish the author had just gotten to the point & provided the happy ending that we all wanted in about 4 hours time rather than seven plus hours.

Disappointment

I really like Penny Reid but this one is a miss. Kaitlyn {female lead} is just beyond dense. I had to stop listening.

She wore me out

I love Penny's writing, but the female star in this series made me fustrated. She jumped to conclusions and was not brave enough to just ask for the answers she wanted. I know there has been a time in my life when I was Katlyn, so I understand why her story need to be shared. Sometimes we has to just stop and face things. hiding in closets don't always get the results best for us. Thank you Penny, good job just not my favorite.

Anxiety inducing realism

As someone who doesn't read people and spent half my life trying to be invisible the writing is spot on. And yes looking back I want to scream at myself as much as you will want to scream at these characters. Really great series.
