Publisher's Summary

She made a deal with the Dakkari devil. Now, he owns her.

On the unforgiving planet of Dakkar, I did what all the humans in our village did: kept my head down, worked to provide for my family, and certainly didn’t break any Dakkari laws to risk inciting the alien race’s merciless wrath.

Unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said for my brother, and one careless mistake brings a horde of the nomadic, barbarian Dakkari straight to our doorstep, led by their powerful horde king - a cold, ruthless, battle-scarred warrior demanding retribution.

In order to save my brother’s life, I do the unthinkable.

I sell myself to the horde king as his war prize. I agree to warm his furs, travel with his horde across the wild lands of Dakkar, and never see my family again. But as I struggle with my new reality, I discover that the surly, mysterious, dominant horde king never intended for me to be his concubine.... He wants me as his queen.

Captive of the Horde King is a full-length science fiction romance audiobook with a "happily ever after" ending. It kicks off the brand-new series, Horde Kings of Dakkar. Each audiobook follows a different couple and can be listened to as a stand-alone.

Another great series opener

This was again epic! You could easily forget this was an alien romance. The narrator did a great job with the single POV

enjoyable but possibly predictable

This is my third book by Zoey Draven. And unlike Brides of the Kylorr this was not outstanding.

It was enjoyable but somewhat predictable.

I will say though that I liked how brave Luna was. I did wish this was dual POV view though.

I will say that the world building was good.

I will keep listening as I'm invested and it's not the worst series I've listened too. I hope further down the track we will see Arokan and Luna again.

setting the scene

I feel that this is what this book was. it's my 1st read of Ms Draven as I normally stick with Anna Hackett, Ruby Dixon and Anna Carven.
I took a long time to finally download as there were mixed reviews. I thought I made a mistake as It was slow moving. eye rollers and frustration for the heroine, and lack of communication on all counts was the basic reason for this...ugh! I hate that !
if she's to be who she is with the hero then she needed to have more brains...a little too basic for my liking....what caught me up was the politics mentioned in the capital city, which is obviously book 3. and the end of this book gives you insight to book 2. the plot sounds the same though so I hope it's not....otherwise I'll return. I'm going to listen to it as I'm keen on the final book. not to mention Aaron Shedlock is narrating..in both books...hoooweee, I loooove his voice,
not to take anything from Liz, as she did a great job solo. the voices were changed with good tone and inflections for different characters.
this story has hooot!!!! steamy sex scenes...quite often....so you gotta like listening to hot alphas having their way. I still don't think the heroine is as strong as she could be, I think an incident to prove to the horde would have been more convincing. but I only listen!! so overall slow but good if you don't mind a little frustration.

Very well written and good story building.

A well written and structured book with well described and thought out alien world setting. Luna is a good character, brave and strong but not annoying. The voice acting was very good and consistent with calm tone, nice america accent.

Nice World Building

If you like the 'Warriors of Hir' series by Willow Danes, then you will love this book! A hot couple set in a believable alien tribal culture. Very nice world building!
