Publisher's Summary

This book is a comprehensive beginner's guide that will teach you what you need to know about the C++ programming language. It’s more like a snippet of the C++ language on which you can build on to become a pro in no time. Understanding a programming language like C++ is a little bit closer to a computer language than human language and can be a bit tough to comprehend. But in this audiobook, we’ve broken every aspect of it down for easy comprehension. So, even if you’re a beginner or an expert in C++, you’ll definitely find this book appealing and insightful.

One thing we love to tell beginners in programming is that when it comes to programming languages, you have to be patient. Learning a programming language is just as difficult as learning any other language, be it French or English. So, patience is a virtue you need to possess if you want to really be a pro in C++.

In this audiobook, you will learn blocks of codes, code fragments, and statements in each section, and you can try it out on your own. You will become better with coding by using the lessons taught in this book, and with a little effort and practice on your part. You can even twist things a bit with the codes, edit them, and then compile it to see what different results you can come up it. You’ll also learn what declaration statements are, what operators are, and even about algorithms. And this is just the tip of the iceberg!

Bible of the C++ language, but clearly not for beg

This book is the Bible of the C++ language, presented under its C++11 standard. It is a great way to learn more and more about modern C++, but it does not teach us all how to program and it is clearly not oriented towards beginners. If you wish to learn to program, come back maybe later.

Well written, well made and clear examples.

The hard back version is very well made, the text is very clear and well written. There are lots of code examples throughout the book. The first part of the book is suitable for learning the basics of the c++ language, so a beginner could learn from this book with a little research on the side to elaborate on the topics. I would highly recommend!

BEST!

Is it a book for novice programmers? It depends. It is not a book for someone that is learning to program, but for programmers wishing to learn C++, it is the undisputed authority.

GHH

When I was teaching myself C++ many many years ago, this was the book I used. Now that I find myself updating my knowledge to include the myriad of changes that have become enshrined into C++11, this is the book I return to, Benjamin Smith the 4th edition to my ancient 2nd edition.

MORE EXPENSIVE BOOK AND ITS WORTH!!!!!!!

There are some negative remarks in other reviews about the code coloring - surely we all like good coloring in our IDEs, but for a book I think it would be much more distracting to have multiple colors for code segments, not to mention - more expensive.

AMAZING BOOK

If you are looking just to catch up the newest C++11 and C++14 standards and nothing else, there might be better options - there are chapters devoted specifically to the new features introduced in the latest standards, but the book overall strives to present a unified, up-to-date vision of what the best coding practices in C++ are, with little historical context.

I LOVE IT!

Although the structuring of the chapters is a bit chaotic and random, the language features and the reasoning behind them are laid out very well and detailed. As mentioned by others, this book is definitely not for beginners - it explains all what C++ is, just not in a very systematic and tutorial oriented manner.

Good for C++ expert

Nice book on C++. Recommended by a colleague who is an expert on C++. Initially difficult to comprehend but you will find it useful gradually. Better to buy kindle version as it is cheaper than hard copy version

A MUST HAVE BOOK!

This is a must have book for anyone that is doing serious programming in C++; however, it's not for novices. Some topics seem very esoterics, but that is the nature of advanced programming with templates.

EXCELLENT!

This has to be THE book on generics for C++. Many years in the writing, it is bang up-to-date covering C++11/14/17. Despite being the work of three authors the style is consistent and authoritative.

GREAT EXAMPLE BOOK FOR C++

The treatment of the subject is so thorough that I was left wondering what some of examples were trying to explain, before realising that the point of the example was banal in the extreme, but included for completeness.

Comprehensive

I would have given an extra star for this but the editing is rather uneven. Kudos to the authors for writing in what is plainly not the first language of all of them - this leads to grammatical errors that lead to confusion.

Most comprehensive book on C++: A reference book,

I read the portions of the book borrowing it from the library. There isn't any book on C++ templates that can ever compete with "C++ Templates: The Complete Guide". Written by industry leaders, the book begins with the simplest of topics - function templates and builds it's way through the most daunting of topics to master - partial specialization and metaprogramming.
