Good ideas but twisted truths

I enjoyed the book but particular ideas came across a little too far stretched. Worth the read if you want a different business perspective to leadership and don't a bit of classic America centralised thoughts

An excellent book, although not an instructional

Amazing book with a lot of meaningful insights you can draw. This book is not an instructional on how to lead, but a foundational analysis of a core ‘how’ and ‘why’ to guide leadership based on its effect on an organisation. Would recommend for anyone looking to lead a business or understand the importance of leadership.

A Welcome Antidote to the Profit-is-Everything Kool-Aid

Listening to this book, as was also the case when I listened to ‘Start With Why’ by the same author, I found myself constantly nodding and exclaiming “Yes!!” I have long believed that the slavish, self-serving and unimaginative adherence by the Smartest People in the Room to Friedman’s model of greed-led economics and business is not the path to long-term success, for businesses, communities or economies; it is a great and welcome relief to have my general sense of things validated and so clearly and logically elucidated. Sinek’s thesis on the manipulation of physiological responses that has seen the escalating normalization of short-term, bonus-maximizing strategies over sustainable, long-term success is well-argued. This is a heartfelt and timely appeal for prioritizing empathy and respect as the key drivers of decision-making for ongoing success in enterprise. It is a powerful polemic on how capitulating to greed and the hunger for short-term rewards disproportionately concentrated in the executive suite are stripping out businesses to the point of collapse and why a renewed focus on leadership, rather than management, is the key to performance, success and sustainability in the long term.

Actually Inspiring

A great book that actually does what it says. Simon Sinek actually does his mission statement and this book hits that bang on.

I don’t think any concept presented in this book would or should shock anyone but to see it explained in the way that Simon does allows for that information to land afresh.

In summary, this book had no reason to slap as hard as it did and I am glad that it did.

Inspiring & educational!

I personally like audio books that have been narrated by the author themselves & Simon Sinek can do no wrong. He's an exceptional public speaker & his ability to share stories that keep you interested is masterful. I found myself nodding & agreeing with him out loud on more than one occasion. I would recommend this book to anyone in a heartbeat 😊
