Publisher's Summary

Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable, audiobook edition of Business for Punks, written and read by James Watt.

Don't waste your time on b******t business plans. Forget sales. Put everything on the line for what you believe in. These mantras have turned BrewDog into one of the world's fastest-growing drinks brands, famous for beers, bars and crowdfunding.

Founded by a pair of young Scots with a passion for great beer, BrewDog has catalysed the craft beer revolution, rewritten the record books and inadvertently forged a whole new approach to business.

In Business for Punks, BrewDog cofounder James Watt bottles the essence of this success. From finances ('chase down every cent') to marketing ('lead with the crusade, not the product') this is an anarchic, indispensable guide to thriving on your own terms.

Don't believe a word of it

Having worked in BrewDog for over 18 months, I can tell you that 'The Captian' does not live by the values of this book. Many employees leave with serious mental health issues due to the organisations ever-lowering moral standards. Any attempts to speak up against the company is hidden in any way possible. Behind their 'super cool puppy leave policy' you'll find terrible working conditions and statutory sick pay. This company has built a successful brand and they have fooled many. You'll find more similarities between BrewDog and the Enron story than you will find in this 'Business for Punks' cringefest.

'Sustained awesomeness'? I don't think so

Couldn't even get to the end of chapter 1. Love the beer but found this just a list of fatuous soundbites.

Nothing revolutionary

As hard as the author wishes it wasn't this is just another re hash of the same old same old but delivered at pace in a broad Scottish accent. It's ok, up beat but a bit lacking in substance.

exactly what you want and expect

Thought provoking from the start.
Proof that following what happened in the past is a sure fire way to failure. Business today is about excellent products that people want, not cheap nastiness that large corporations tell us we want. This book has great examples and guidance on how to stand out.
Thinking that can apply to any start up - not only beer brands.

very inspiring for starting your own business

I own both lagunitas and dogfish heads auto books and while I would recommend both of them this one has the most business savy advice, nice to also have one in the same country as I am.

Punkonomics in branding not just beer!

A good listen - I appreciate the no nonsense strategy behind the brand. Will make every attempt to take some of the advice board.
