Can his sister’s fake boyfriend become his real one?

When Kendall O'Hara catches his boyfriend cheating, he runs to his sister - the only person he can rely on in the city. But she's on a business trip, so Kendall finds himself temporary roomies with her super hot and equally kind live-in boyfriend.

Luke Hale's family has made him so jaded regarding relationships, that he’s had no problem pretending to be his best friend’s boyfriend. It’s never been a problem, until her sweet, adorable brother arrives. Kendall’s passion for his food channel is contagious and his openness and vulnerability are intoxicating.

They both know the other should be off-limits, but spending time together - cooking, talking, laughing - is so easy and wonderful. Their attraction is undeniable and once Kendall learns that Luke is actually available, all bets are off. Sizzling chemistry quickly gives way to real feelings. But Kendall’s stay is temporary. Can their friends with benefits arrangement blossom into a forever love or will they both wind up alone again?

Brother-in-Law Material is a sweet and sexy M/M romance with the following tropes: fake boyfriend, temporary roommates, friends with benefits, best friend's brother.

Sweet and enjoyable but very contrived fakery!

This is a nice easy read and if you’re willing to suspend huge amounts of belief then you’ll probably enjoy it a lot … After Kendall O’Hara comes home to find his boyfriend cheating, he wants to stay with his sister, Keira, and her hunky boyfriend, Luke Hale. But Keira’s away on business and Luke and Kendall become flatmates. Kendall feels attracted to Luke but fights the feelings, not realising that his own sister and Luke have had a fake relationship for years: Keira doesn’t want her family to bug her about dating and Luke’s family has a terrible track record with relationships and he thinks he’ll be the same. When Kendall’s ex tries to get him back, the truths come out and both men voice their attraction for each other.

I quite enjoyed lots of this, especially the dynamic between Luke and Kendall: Kendal was like a chaotic puppy needing Luke’s protection and steadying hand. But, I found Keira and Luke’s situation too contrived and their reasoning too unconvincing. Kendall never even questioned why Luke and Keira have separate bedrooms or why Keira would give him and Luke permission to be physical with each other. US voice artist Michael Ferraiuolo does his usual good job, he played up the occasional bits of humour and the warmth between the two men.
