Publisher's Summary

Far too young, Apollo Ulfr lost Ilsa, the love of his life. The grief of her loss does not settle in his soul, it solders to it. When he discovers there’s a parallel universe where his wife may have a twin, he feels there’s hope and sets about bringing her to his world.

Ilsa Ulfr of our world is on the run from her husband, Apollo’s twin. The last thing she wants is to be transported to a fantastical world and forced to take his side as his wife.

However, trouble catches up with her, and she has no choice. While Ilsa is trying to find her feet in a fairytale world, Apollo finds the broken Ilsa nothing like his beloved.

But darkness is looming, and evil is amassing. Apollo must protect his land and keep his family safe. Including the new Ilsa.

When circumstances throw them together, sparks fly, and both Ilsa and Apollo are surprised at just how hot those sparks can get.

Good and enjoyable

So I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Apollo and Ilsa but I wish they had let her find herself a bit more.

All those negative self feelings don't suddenly vanish in my opinion and in the start of the book it sounded like she wanted to know herself but by the end I'm not sure if she did. Unsure... I just thought perhaps if you were going down that storyline, that it didn't seem very well researched perhaps or written about.

Still I enjoyed the love story and the fantasy. it was good but 4 stars because of this.

Apollo and Maddy

Not my favorite of the series. Finnie and Frey and then Lahn and Cerce are hard acts to follow. Tor and Cora were a little quirky and usual both being set in Tor's kingdom and with their unique shared soul storyline but the series starts to lose a bit of its 'intense, cant put it down' sparkle by book four.
That being said for my reading experience all KA novels are worth at least the first read.
Also not my favorite narrator. But Im obnoxiously picky about narration so I generally try to ignore that unless its horrific or unlistenable. Wasnt shocking, just small things like the narrators voice for Apollo and her notes of emphasis in conversation were strange to me.
Overall good author, good series and the series is worthwhile seeing through. But Frey and Finnie, Lahn and Cerce are unbeatable.

Great storyline, too much sex

I've loved this series and i think this was a great book but there was way too much sex in it. At times I stopped listening to it for a period, others I skipped part of the book. It was extremely repetitive and made the book difficult to get through and enjoy.
