Publisher's Summary

I’m the guy you call when you need to impress your overbearing family, your boss, or your ex. Yeah, I’m a male escort, but not just any escort, I’m the escort. The one with a mile-long waiting list and a pristine reputation that’s very well-deserved.

I’m the guy who’ll make you feel beautiful, desired, and worshipped...all for a steep price. I’m hired to make you shine, and I always deliver.

I’ll be whatever you want me to be for one night - except my true self. This is just a job, a role I play to earn a paycheck.

But I’m not the guy who falls for a client. Not once in six years.

And then I meet Elle. Her friend has hired me to escort her to a wedding, but Elle doesn’t know we’re just pretending.

There’s a fire between us I never expected. A connection I haven’t felt in so long. One kiss, and I’m losing all control.

But what will happen when she finds out who I really am?

Disappointed by readers voice

I enjoyed the book but found it hard to listen to the female reader. It was as though she was trying to sound sexy and it was just irritating.

Good story

Unconventional but a good story. Put the performance at 3 stars cause of Erin. Just not a big fun on how she finish her sentence with a sigh. But I’m sure lots of readers/listeners love her.

So So

Story and performance mediocre. While is it a HEA the book had very little excitement, in the way of some drama. just a flat one dimensional story. The book is short . not a fan of the narrators.

From fake to forever

Written by Kendall Ryan and narrated by Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon, Boyfriend for Hire is a contemporary romance that has an escort named Nic Evans falling for the woman he's been hired to keep company. What starts off as a fake becomes forever for Nic and his Elle (who doesn't have a last name mentioned in the story), but as expected, there's a whole lot of stuff they need to contend with before they actually get their happily-ever-after. This is the first in an untitled series of standalones and everything pretty much plays out the way you would think but with Kendall Ryan adding her own creative touch to it. I know some readers didn't like that he was with other women, but the guy IS an escort and being with other women is part of his job. I appreciated the author not glossing over that fact but also not delving too deeply into it either. Nic is essentially a good guy and being an escort is merely what pays his bills and not his life's ambition. There's a degree of naivete when it comes to Elle, but she was also a woman who embraced her sexuality and I liked that about her. Together, she and Nic shared a believable connection, and Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke did a really fantastic job bringing these two to life. I'm giving four stars for the story and five stars for the performance, which averages to 4.5 stars overall for Boyfriend for Hire. ♥

So good!!!

Funny, sweet, sexy - this is perfection! I love this authors humor and the way she writes banter, it's fantastic. Narration was really well done too! Highly recommend!

enjoyed the story

I really enjoyed the story, but was distracted by the female narrators exaggerated ending to her phrasing. The male narrator was good and had a great speech flow.

Not your typical romance story

If you thinking this will be a redemption story about a man who is so caught up in his ways that being an escort is the best job in the world for him. This story is far from it. It's a beautiful story of finding yourself in the lowest moments and celebrating life. Ryan has written some of my favourite books and this one join the ranks. Elle isn't a cookie cutter heroine , she may have a little chip on her shoulder about her body but she is gorgeous inside and out. Perfect for our hero who just needs a sweet girl like Elle to break him out his funk. The blurb may paint a picture of Nic being this suave guy who knows all the tricks. However there is much to more to the story and I loved his journey of seeking a new beginning . It was sweet and fun the whole way. I want more from this couple as their HEA is not enough. As the adventure is only the beginning for them. As for the narrotors, I believe this my first time with this pairing I could be wrong though. I thought they did a good job with the performance and bring these two sweet characters to life making this book perfect.

Good

Story was really good, I enjoyed it very much! Jason Clarke knocked it out of the park! 5 Star Performance Erin Mallon was good but after a while it gets annoying having to listen to elongated syllables in every single word that is read. Not sure if I'll get the next Audiobook in the series, I might just stick to the book only.

Male escort finds true love

Unconventional Romance about a male escort along the lines of Pretty Woman and a young woman in need of a date for a wedding. The guy is kind hearted and sweet as well as very experienced but It seems irresponsible for ElI not to have required a clean medical certificate from the company and not to make that point - even with Nick’s use of condoms and his “oral” rule. Not sure why if he made so much money he couldn’t go to school part time or start that construction business earlier but the ending was cute. Plus a preview of The Hookup Handbook which continues with some of the same characters. The narration was good - by -2 professionals- but could have been better as a duet. Also a bit slow at the beginning- probably to indicate Nick’s approaching burnout.

Not My Favorite

I was very excited when I heard the male narrator, but once I hear the females voice it was a turn off for me. I like how it was two different voices per gender but I wasn't a fan of the way she portrayed her voice. Also, I feel like the story was too short with not enough detail and plot twists. Not a hit for me but I can understand how some people could like it.

Interaction

Liked both the narrators and the book, I’m just wondering why the narrators don’t interact? They both change their voices to imitate the other person when they’re talking to each other instead of actually talking to one another. This is strange and confusing to me.

a lot to unpack

sooooo...where do I start? Well, I enjoyed the book. It was definitely escapism in it's highest form, and I've come to know with this author, she writes very tropish love stories, and this one took the form of male escort. I liked Nick, the main character. I didn't love him, he wasn't #goals or my new book boyfriend, but male escorts intrigue me enough to find their narratives interesting that they have to get to this HEA. hate myself for saying this, but the heroine was a little irritating to me, but maybe because I wouldn't have a beer with her. She fell hard so fast, I wasn't always happy that her sister in law/best friend didn't share with her she'd hired her future hubby to be a date at her wedding. She made a lot of reckless decisions not knowing, and I often wondered if she always did things so of the moment, or whether a pretty face forced her hand. I think Nick wasn't ish for waiting so long to tell her he was an escort, but I hated how he had unprotected lovey times with her, knowing what he did for a living, and kept that from her. That was where he was an idiot. He should've been against it until she could make a decision whether she wanted that, as I'm sure she wouldn't have knowing his profession. I'm super sex positive, but I think these stories work better when the heroine knows what she's walking into. It's not fair to keep someone in the dark like that. Not to mention, she wasn't even given proper time to be mad at him. It was like she found out, got angry, looked into his eyes and could swear he didn't really "mean" lying to her. I know I was supposed to be rooting for them, but I kept kinda thinking "girl...you gotta be the dumbest broad in chicago". I think because the love scenes were awesome, I wish I could give it a higher score. It's actually more a 3.5 for me which I normally aim toward the 4, but there were other forces working against it. With that being said, Im super excited for the next book! I think I'd like it better because it insinuates the heroine knows next time, which is what I'd prefer. This book could be a hit or miss. For me it was the miss that was almost a hit.

Great listen!

I have been waiting for this one to be released, and was pleased to get today. I love both of these narrators, especially Erin Mallon. Pretty well anything she narrates is an automatic download for me, and the dual narration with Jason Clarke and a title by Kendall Ryan made this worth a credit! This story has a bit more depth to it than one may think by just reading the descrption (don't dismiss it at being too shallow or superficial)...but at the same time, it's not an intense story line either. It's just great for when you need a time out, a few laughs, several swoons, some sexy hotness thrown in here and there, followed by the HEA. I love how the characters meet and have this instant chemistry, but he keeps holding back, which naturally is frustrating to her. He does all the right things, but she receives some information a bit prematurely. And the struggles are real! But they were sometimes...real 👍! **Oooh, and there is bonus goodies thrown in at the end for good measure...to make sure we come back for the NEXT listen to follow this one as well. And I might add that they were NOT all that stingy with how much bonus material was given! Usually you get just a snipet to lure you in. Nope, you are left with some waaay good stuff and I can't wait to now get a hold of this next one to see how things go with Kase! Yum!

Definitely worth a listen!

Although I knew how the story would go (just guessing while listening), I absolutely loved it. it's well written and the voice actors are great (even if the female (Erin Mallon) ends almost every sentence in the same tone and extends the last letter of the word for ages....when the word had an R at the end ie better, the Rs really started to irritate me... but I tried to ignore it and pushed on...I'm so glad that I did!). Jason Clarke is his usual fantastic self. There's a few really saucy moments that are well described instead of just ghosting over them like most books, infact the descriptions throughout the book really make you imagine what it's like to be there. Anyway, I would advadvise anyone looking for a romantic/ hot/fun book to give it a go!

Boyfriend for Hire

This is a sweet love story, with a few stumbles along the way. Read well by Jason Clarke and Erin Malkin
