Story
A story of friendship, courage and a bit of crime. Bridget wants a quiet life, including, if possible, keeping her parents out of prison. Then a boy called Menzies makes her an offer she can't refuse, and they set off on a job of their own. It's a desperate, daring plan, to rescue two kids, Jamal and Bibi, from a desert detention centre. Can Bridget and Menzies pull off their very first jail break, or will they end up behind bars too? Sometimes to help a friend, you have to dig deep.

Story
There used to be an empty chair at the back of my class, but now a new boy called Ahmet is sitting in it. He's nine years old (just like me), but he's very strange. He never talks and never smiles and doesn't like sweets - not even lemon sherbets, which are my favourite! But the truth is, Ahmet really isn't very strange at all. He's a refugee who's run away from a war. A real one. With bombs and fires and bullies that hurt people. And the more I find out about him, the more I want to be his friend.

Story
Auggie wants to be an ordinary ten-year-old. He does ordinary things—eating ice cream, playing on his Xbox. He feels ordinary—inside. But ordinary kids don't make other ordinary kids run away screaming in playgrounds. Ordinary kids aren't stared at wherever they go. Born with a terrible facial abnormality, Auggie has been home-schooled by his parents his whole life. Now, for the first time, he's being sent to a real school—and he's dreading it. All he wants is to be accepted—but can he convince his new classmates that he's just like them, underneath it all?

Story
One of Australia's favourite stories for children, now a major motion picture starring Jai Courtney and Geoffrey Rush. Storm Boy is the timeless story of Mike 'Storm Boy' Kingley, who rescues three pelican chicks after their mother is shot. One of the birds, Mr Percival, forms a very special bond with the boy which brings into focus the conflict between his lifestyle in the remote Coorong of South Australia and the external pressures of society, including his schooling. Treasured by generations of children, this is a heartwarming tale about unusual friendship and unconditional love.

A fabulous book
I teach Year 4 in Australia and my class loved this book. They laughed, we’re moved to tears and really cared about the characters and their flight to seek asylum. We had some big discussions, especially over the ending. Highly recommend.

So many, from the land mine to the search plane.
Any additional comments?
Every though its a short book, I was constantly entertained and interested. Loved it.
