Publisher's Summary

Known as 'Lord Bendtner' to his fans and haters alike, Nicklas Bendtner has been lauded for his football skills at superclubs Arsenal and Juventus. But his career has been haunted by his rocky behaviour and tendency to self-sabotage.

Very much a fable of the modern game, Bendtner talks with disarming honesty about the darker side of football and his own difficult fall from grace, about what it's like to have so much promise that you lose touch with reality altogether.

It's is about growing up in a working class neighbourhood and what happens when you give a troubled, overconfident teen millions to spend. It's about fighting to reach the top in the worlds' toughest league but having no respect for hierarchy.

It's about friendship, rivalry and the constant quest for an adrenaline kick. It's about money - having too much of it - and an industry that has lost sight of what really matters.

A modern footballing fable, it's a story of decline, temper, talent, great football and ultimately the tragedy of unfulfilled potential.

Not since the days of Paul McGrath's Back from the Brink have we seen such honesty in a footballer's memoir. Fans of Paul Merson, George Best and Tony Adams' autobiographies will also find pure fascination here in a story that has gripped international listeners....

Absorbing and insightful.

Really enjoyed this book from start to finish and was just what the doctor ordered after the disappointment of Arsene Wenger's book.

With this book, Nicklas takes you behind the scenes and gives you an honest, unadulterated look at what the life of a pro footballer really involves, and the struggles that life brings with it. The stories from his time at Arsenal were also fantastic and a timely walk back memory lane.

Highly recommended for any football fan, but particularly those supporting Arsenal. Bravo.

Well read, surprisingly open and fascinating

One of my favourite ever sport books. Bendtner has so many interesting stories and insights. Well read and a great listen. I wish there would be a follow up going into more detail. Even though it’s over 11 hours long, I feel like I could have listened to even more.

Lord Bendtner a Misunderstood Person

watched him score that goal against Spurs, but like Bentley and Pennant, there is a Button they love to push, and Bang. yes a few of the situations were not Nicks fault. but thank god, Saka, ESR, Gabby etc seem so level headed NO Big Egos.

Great Story

It felt like I was listening to Ibrahimovic based on his ego and how good he's telling us he is but I actually liked it. Bendtner isnt short of confidence and makes a good read. I liked that he mentioned Bruce and Adebayor too. recommended

crazy world on and of the pitch

Great to learn more about this enigma. He lives up to his reputation. He should have achieved so much more, but he is who he is and was always gonna live the life that his character suited

An honest opinion on pro football

Honest appraisal of his career whilst not holding back on the lows as well as the highs.
Proof pro football can be a hard life despite the rewards and yet further proof the papers just make up anything they want....
