Publisher's Summary

Ajaya is back in the Zone again - training soldiers to survive the unsurvivable, and using his time inside to hunt for answers of his own. And what he finds reaches far, far outside Manhattan. Human life has been extinguished from the Zone, but what's brewing there is far from satisfied. Racing to contain the danger, Ajaya must protect his own from threats in every direction, both outside and inside the deadliest Borough on the planet.

Amazing!

More of the awesomeness we have come to expect from Mr. Conroe. Can't wait for book 3, the stakes have officially been ramped up to Armageddon levels.

AWSOME STORY. HOPING FOR MORE!

Couldn't quit listening. Great continuation of the story and like where it's headed. plenty of room for more action but if the story ended now, it would be on a good note.

Lost Luster

From a promising and entertaining book 1 to something bordering on shark-jumping. The MC had already been a bit too cocky for his own good, book 2 took this whole new levels of arrogance and unbelievability. Spoilers ahead: Accepting that this is meant to be a thriller, which it is, there are some aspects of the story that are completely unreasonable. One, granted that the woman who created the spider's AI was a genius it is beggars belief that she alone could have created an AI so sophisticated that the AI could orchestrate the complete takeover of Manhattan, even given existing state-of-art hardware. Genius or no, she would need a team of other genius-level hardware and software engineers to pull it off. Note: That part of the story was made known in book 1 but I decided to ignore it then. However, book 2 introduces other glaring absurdities that I decided to include the one big one that started it all. Next, there was the complete ineptitude of the military ops folks but also the entire NSA and other levels of government security. An example was how the MC was so sure of himself that he allowed his arrogance to place an innocent friendly scientist in jeopardy of treason, even if one accepts that he could avoid that on himself given the resources and might of the entire NSA and national security network. He's so cocksure that he actually thinks that moving his family out of New York would prevent to government from finding and holding them as hostages. As I stated, I understand that this is meant to be a thriller but breaking even the hardened levels of security and military protocols was absurd.

Great

This one is just as good, if not better, than the first. I'm looking forward to book 3.

A must listen

So glad I stumbled across this series. Superbly written, superbly narrated. Good storyline but the characters and their development set this one apart. Can't wait for the next installment.

Amazing series

I wasn't sure about the series when I started the 1st book due to it not being my normal type of book however with John Conroe quickly becoming one of my favorite authors I gave it a shot. I'm so glad I did it's fast paced and exciting while keeping you guessing about what's coming next. The narration of the book by James Patrick Cronin is outstanding. If you haven't already done so I would also suggest getting any book written and narrated by this duo you won't be disappointed.
