Summary

The first book in an epic new dark academia romantasy, perfect for fans of the Zodiac Academy and Atlas Six series, about a young woman named Summer Tuatha De Daanan who enrolls at the magical Avalon University, where she must uncover the secrets of her past, find the mysterious benefactor who paved her way, and stop a sadistic killer who threatens to drench Avalon in blood.

Fear, Fury and Fire.

To Know is Not Enough.

Power flows through the ancient halls of Avalon University like a neverending flood. Admission to the elite institution enables students to hone their magic under the watchful eye of their icy headmaster.

Summer Tuatha De Daanan planned to slide through her tenure at Avalon, unnoticed and inconspicuous. She has no interest in learning more about her past or why someone applied to the school on her behalf. Her emotional walls keep everyone at bay, and her sharp tongue makes people give her a wide berth. Yet, despite her best attempts, her emotional armor begins to melt from her feral vampire roommate to the angelic senior who is never dissuaded by her feigning disinterest. Maybe this could be good for her, a new life. Yet, dark secrets lurk in the halls of Avalon, and soon those same halls are drenched in blood.

Summer finds herself as the obsession of the sadistic stalker with the warning: Seven lessons to learn. With the help of her new friends, she races against the clock to solve the mystery, hoping to save lives and catch the killer before it's too late.

This audiobook hooks you fast with mystery, danger and a genuinely intriguing stalker subplot that keeps you guessing.
Alice is a standout. Sharp, chaotic and layered in secrets. Easily the most interesting character.

Connor is pure sunshine. Kind, vulnerable and honestly too good for Summer her bullshit, her emotional cheating and the shitty end to his story arc!

Summer… is frustrating. Her commitment issues drag on with little growth and by the halfway mark it starts to feel repetitive and emotionally immature. It really slows the pacing and takes the edge off an otherwise strong story.

Corvin King’s voice is raspy perfection. The male voices blend a bit but I did not care, I could listen to him all day. Mercedes Manning brings Summer to life a little too well, especially the more irritating traits.
Great premise, strong side characters and a gripping start, but the character growth just does not quite land.

Also, if you turn this into a drinking game every time she says “big guy” you will be unconscious before ten halfway point!

Never have I hated the plot choices made by an author or an fmc more than this book and I’m shattered as this was one of my most anticipated audiobooks.

Connor deserved better - Never Hated Plot Choices More than in this Book!

This was instalove with a cringeworthy MMC pet name. There were some potentially intriguing characters and a murder mystery storyline hiding in the background but these were neglected in favour of a highly repetitive and depthless exploration of the love story. The dialogue and behaviour of the characters is incredibly juvenile despite the fact they are supposedly in their late 20s/30s. Wanted to like this but it fell so far short of the mark.
