Publisher's Summary

Quitting her husband's house and moving back in with her horrible family, Alexia Tarabotti becomes the scandal of the London season.

After being dismissed by Queen Victoria from the Shadow Council and attacked by homicidal mechanical ladybugs, she flees England for Italy in search of the mysterious Templars. Only they can explain her increasingly inconvenient condition, but they may be worse than vampires – and they’re armed with pesto.

magnetic!

I was attracted to this book like a magnet to a fridge! The interweaving of drama, bodice- ripping romance and quirky humour was engaging.

Every member of this cast of character is necessary to bring the humour and pace to the story, I love them all!

Lord Maccon, she does to perfection!

This series just keeps getting better & better!

Gail Carrigers writing style, her choice of characters & her sense of wit are all thoroughly enjoyable! Having just finished the 3rd in this series I literally cannot wait to download the next one!
As for the the choice of narrator Emily Gray, she really brings these books too life & I can actually visualize each of the characters & as for the starring lady, Emilys portrayal has left a lasting picture in my mind of her every mannerism, how she looks & how she reacts with all of those around her... just wonderful!
Loving the fun keep it up ;-)

An excellent instalment in the series

Excellent third instalment of the PP series. With homicidal ladybugs (I so want one of these, without the killing serum of course!) on her tail, Lady Alexia leaves England to travel to Italy for answers from the Templars about her pregnancy (aka the Infant Inconvenient). But, as usual for Alexia, things never go according to plan! With thrills, spills, action, adventure, twists, turns, paranormal elements, steampunk elements and Victorian society, this book is well written with great characters that spring to life from the page and, with the narrators help, take on a life of their own in your imagination. An excellent book, and I look forward to reading/listening to the next book to hear the story continue.

Entertaining idea, but a few stumbles

Would you listen to Blameless again? Why?

Possibly. I enjoyed it, despite its faults

What did you like best about this story?

Imaginative, combining steam-punk, vampires, werewolves and sundry nutters

Have you listened to any of Emily Gray’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No. I found her performance a little odd, unless the unusually long pauses after every sentence were introduced in editing afterwards. It made things sound stilted, especially when a line of dialogue and the associated tag line were separated by what I would normally think of as a "new paragraph" pause.

Any additional comments?

The rather ornate, pseudo-Victorian style was nicely done, and it worked well for the humorous moments, but it slowed down action, which sounded as if everyone involved in a fight was looking at everyone else and waiting for an invitation.

Brill, now I need to read the whole series

I bought this as a buy one get one free and didn't realize that it was the third in the series. I had to google it to fill in bits of the plot and some of the jargon. Despite that, once up to speed I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought the performance was very amusing and I like the character voices.

Made a real change. Definitely recommend.
