About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Black Sheep is read by Natalie Simpson, star of Les Misérables.

Abigail Wendover has no time for love.

She is far too busy protecting her niece, who has fallen madly in love with a suspected fortune-hunter.

But her efforts become vastly more complicated with the arrival of Miles Calverleigh, the black sheep of his family - a reckless bachelor with a scandalous past.

Abby soon discovers that, despite successfully managing her niece's love life, she has far less control over her own unruly heart.

smashing narrator, story is a little different to her standard Georgian stories, but still fun.

I love GH

This story explores the prevailing social mores of the regency period and shows the determination of the conservative siblings of Abigail Wendover to prevent her from marrying the black sheep of the Calverleigh family. Duty to family weighs heavily on Abby but not at all on her unconventional suitor. The story is well read and lively but is lacking a little in action. I enjoyed it however and will listen to it again.

A comedy of manners

If only Phyllis’s Nash or Sarah Woodward had be reading this story it would have been far more interesting. The story is light and entertaining but the voice was too young for characters.

The voice wasn’t right for the story.
