Summary

Blair

I'd been waiting my whole life to run. When I uncovered hidden papers detailing my inheritance, I knew my time had come. I packed my trunk full of plant babies, black nail polish, and determination. With my demons in the rearview mirror and my trauma for company, I made my way to Elmwood. The remote Maine mountain town is home to my future, a potential love interest, and a lot of really weird, possibly deadly secrets.

Richard

Until recently, the most interesting thing in my life had been a particularly difficult Sunday crossword. Even my vampiric transformation hadn't disrupted my life much—it was still boring and repetitive, albeit with more blood than I'd previously dealt with. When newcomer Blair—a charming five-foot-tall vegan ball of rage—blows into town, it's all I can do not to follow him like a love-sick puppy. He’s everything I’ve been missing, but there's a catch: I need to spy on him and convince the Council he’s innocent of his mother’s crimes. Here's hoping I don't end up with a corpse instead of a boyfriend.

Bite Me! (You Know I Like It) is a standalone slow-burn paranormal MM romance with high heat, an HEA, and no cliffhangers. If you like spooky stories with mystery, suspense, hilarious miscommunication, and characters that make you laugh, listen on!

I really enjoyed the style of writing and the characters were easy to get to know. This was a slow burn with lots of character development and an interesting storyline. I’m excited for book 2 in this book world. The narrators did a great job

A great read

Great overall plot, interesting twists and turns, one I didn't fully guess which was awesome.

Great characters, tropes and scenes. My only thing would be for the first half of the book there are way too many descriptions. It made the book draw on and was longer than it needed to be. If it wasn't for the super intriguing overarching storyline I might not have continued.

There are also a few minor inconsistencies and a somewhat rushed ending. I wanted a little more from the new discoveries revealed at the end rather than just one open ended scene, but all in all it's a colorful story and I do kinda need to know what's going to happen next, so I guess that's a good story hook for you.

Fun, intriguing and surprising!

Desperate to escape his sadistic aunt, Blair flees to Elmwood in Maine with a plan to sell his dead parents’ old house and use the money to start a new life. Puzzlingly, the strangely nocturnal residents of Elmwood are less than thrilled with his return and the Council appoints the handsome and gentle Richard to spend time with Blair and report back. While Blair and Richard welcome each other’s attention, someone in town does not and Blair finds himself the target of arson, violence, and something far more sinister.

I enjoyed the premise of this supernatural romance and I liked Blair and Richard’s characters a lot. The mystery about the town and its weird residents was intriguing, as was the tragedy that involved Blair’s family. But, overall, I felt this book was too long and the story dragged on (600 pp, almost 15 audio hrs). I think the main reason was Blair’s repetitive internal monologues. Let’s face it, Blair was suffering from PTSD. His mind kept recalling the violence and trauma inflicted by his aunt and he constantly worried she’d catch up with him and imprison him again. Those recollections kept slowing down the story and, unfortunately, drained my sympathy after a while—a clear case of ‘less is more’. 🎧 Alexander Cendese (as Blair) and Liam DiCosimo (as Richard) are two favourite audio narrators, but I wasn’t convinced their upbeat deliveries really suited the characters or the story here.

PTSD overshadows the intriguing plot!

It was a nice story with a fun plot. I sort of saw where it. was going around halfway through - didn't change the enjoyment...just drew it out a little. I would have preferred a less convoluted pathway as it felt too slow burn and then a little rushed at the end. but! it was still well written and Richard and Blair were a great coupling.

enjoyable
