Publisher's Summary

Do you remember finishing your last Year 12 exam and wondering what to do next? Do you remember waiting for your results and being stuck in limbo? Do you remember going to gigs, forming a band, getting bottles thrown at you by skinheads, making a bomb and getting arrested? Do you remember hitchhiking to Mildura to see the love of your life, but ending up in a caravan park by yourself on New Year's Eve? You don't? What? Did all this only happen to Dave O'Neil?

That's what this audiobook is about - the summer in which Dave finished school and waited ten weeks to find out whether he'd make it into uni or have to get that trade his dad kept banging on about. The Summer of '82 is the hilarious and heartfelt story of a boy becoming a man in suburban Australia. Dave O'Neil is one of our most loved comedians. He has been performing stand-up for over 25 years, has been part of some of Australia's most successful FM radio teams, and is a regular on our TV screens, where he holds the honour of having the most guest appearances on ABC's iconic Spicks and Specks (over 50!). He is also a successful writer, columnist and actor. The Summer of '82 is his fifth book.

The Hardest Working Man in Comedy.

Always a funny read...even though I listened to it on Audible. Funny As. I've known Dave since I first met him at the Last Laugh Comedy Club in Lygon st in Melbourne and he's always been a entertaining and funny guy and it was great reliving his early years read by him.
Even today is always working from Podcasts to TV to live gigs he is one of Australia's unsung comedy heroes who should get more recognition...

A lot of fun

I wasn’t born in 82 but loved the book anyway. Dave spins a great yarn

Whip it good!

Eighties nostalgia at its best. Add in the unique experience of growing up in the Australian suburbs and this is a fun offering. Self deprecating, the author is candid about his experiences and finds humour even in challenge. I liked it that the author made the effort to narrate their work and Dave O’Neil does a good job of this.
