Publisher's Summary

In honor of the 10-year anniversary of The Heroin Diaries, Nikki Sixx's definitive and best-selling memoir on drug addiction is now available on audio for the first time, read by Nikki Sixx! This shocking, gripping, and at times darkly hilarious memoir explores Nikki's yearlong war with a vicious heroin addiction. Now more than ever, with opioid addiction ravaging our country and rising by 20 percent in the past year alone, Nikki's story of both his descent into drug-addled decay and subsequent recovery and transition into a rehabilitation advocate is now more relevant than ever.

When Mötley Crüe was at the height of its fame, there wasn't any drug Nikki Sixx wouldn't do. He spent days - sometimes alone, sometimes with other addicts, friends, and lovers - in a coke and heroin-fueled daze.

The highs were high, and Nikki's journal entries reveal some euphoria and joy. But the lows were lower, often ending with Nikki in his closet, surrounded by drug paraphernalia and wrapped in paranoid delusions.

Here, Nikki shares the diary entries - some poetic, some scatterbrained, some bizarre - of those dark times.

Brutally honest, utterly riveting, and surprisingly moving, The Heroin Diaries follows Nikki during the year he plunged to rock bottom - and his courageous decision to pick himself up and start living again.

I don’t do many books but this one has changed me. This is a story of change and acceptance. Nikki Sixx has become a legend.

raw & real

I was never the biggest Motley fan, more into rhcp/g n r/led zeppelin etc. But! This book was freakin incredible, and even better for listening to the man himself Sixx read it to you. Don't forget that you are listening to his own diary entries so it's not in typical flowing style, but I would listen to him as I walked around my serene little city in NZ and marvel at the things hes lived and literally died through. What a legend, definitely a great experience for anyone, but perhaps people dealing with addictions because as you hear his own words that he penned during the depths of his addictions, and how he pulled through you gotta know there's hope for anyone.
My only critique is the womans voice, yeesh. I know kiwi chicks don't have the same preppy tones as Americans but yeah... it was a struggle to listen to her parts, which was annoying because they were covering his mothers and his serious ex-partner who added a lot of value. Still, it was awesome, would recommend it to a lot of people.

Enjoyable book

This is a great book for rock fans of Motley Crue. How they are still alive, who knows.

Addictive

I really enjoyed The Heroin Diaries - I couldn’t get enough. I will follow up with listening to The Dirt.

Not just for the Mötley fans...

What a survivor and a savvy businessman. I grew up on Mötley and watching their antics. The guys really did leave a legacy of fantastic rock music and the soundtrack to my youth. Nikki is so inspiring with how he's worked through his demons and challenged himself to grow and succeed on multiple creative levels. You're a legend!

A lot more honest and candid than I expected.

I’m not really sure what I expected. But this was a lot more personal and open than I thought it would be.

It’s a very insightful look in to music of that era. Knowing the background of the songs, and writing process, gave me more of an appreciation for them.

It’s also an inside (and personal) perspective on the struggles of addiction and depression. I commend Nikki Sixx for sharing such personal thoughts and stories. I can see why many people would have been able to relate and find comfort in this book.

Thank you for sharing your story.

Horrific but insightful

Raw honesty. No one could be proud of that story, but what a mind and what strength to tell that story.

Brutally real

Loved it! To be able to bare your true self as Nikki did is an unbelievable story and one of the best motivational books I’ve listened to. Thank you
