Publisher's Summary

In 1978, Warren Fellows was convicted of heroin trafficking between Thailand and Australia. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in the notorious Bang Kwang prison - better known as the Bangkok Hilton. It was the beginning of 12 years of hell in a place where sewer rats and cockroaches are the only nutritious food, where prison guards laugh as they deliver pulverising blows, and where the worst punishment is the khun deo - solitary confinement, Thai style.

The Damage Done is one man's story of an unthinkable nightmare. It is not Warren Fellows' plea for forgiveness nor his denial of guilt, but a story of endurance and survival and the abuse of human rights during the decade of a life wasted in leg irons. It is an essential listen: heartbreaking, fascinating, and impossible to pause.

A tough life for the crime

It certainly should be a deterrent for anyone considering the path of smuggling drugs in third world countries.
Tough to listen to at times and super well narrated (as all books read by David are...)

I suggest reading some background reports on Warren and his life after returning back to Australia. The impact it had on his son made this story stick more than the book itself did.

One of the best prison books I have read yet

Up there with the likes of rusty young.
Also. The narrator was one of the best I've heard in my mind.

An honest view of time standing still

Fantastic read. Shows the outcomes of wrong choices anybody could make and some still do. A hard lesson learned by Warren. Thankyou for sharing your story.

A great cautionary tale - a life lesson for all aspiring drug couriers.

Raw telling of a very real story. There would be less drug couriers recruited if this was required reading in senior high school.

Good Read

Great book, had to keep listening to the audiobook until the finish, then I usually google to see where the person is now. I see the book made him some money, hr got back into drugs or cocaine and eventually turned to God.

Hell in a beautiful country

Great book with a really interesting story makes you question how anyone can be treated this way.
