Publisher's Summary

'After 46 years of being on the road, now is the right time to look back in a way I've never done before: now and then. I'm looking forward to sharing it with you.'

Mick Fleetwood has been part of one of the world's most successful and adored bands for over four decades. Here he tells the full and candid story of that life, and what it is to be part of the ever evolving Fleetwood Mac.

His all-access autobiography spans the career of one of classic rock's greatest drummers and band leaders, the co-founder of the deeply loved super group that bears his name.

In this intimate portrait of a life lived in music, Fleetwood vividly recalls his upbringing in Cornwall, Egypt, and Norway, tapping along to whatever song was playing on the radio; his experiences as a musician in Sixties London; the early days of the band featuring Peter Green, and his close friendship with George Harrison and seemingly all of music royalty.

Play On sheds new light on Fleetwood Mac's raucous history, describing the highs and lows of being part of a band that he often single-handedly kept together. His love affair with Stevie Nicks, the creation of landmark albums like Rumours and Tusk, and the many incredible and outrageous moments of recording, touring, fighting, and loving with Fleetwood Mac: all are here. He describes his life's moments with the honesty and immediacy that his fans expect, taking us to the very heart of this multi-layered life.

It's been a tumultuous journey with the excesses of the band's huge success at times threatening to destroy what they strived so hard to create. But through it all, it's been the drive to play on that has won out. Now, then, and always, it's Fleetwood Mac.

Rock stars aren't that interesting, after all

This is my fourth rock star audiobook memoir. They're really quite self-indulgent and boring, their stories, most of them. With this one, it just seemed to be about how much cocaine he did and how lousy he treated his wife, who he apparently really loved but couldn't communicate with. Listening to Mick's story was quite tedious. I don't think he's the best storyteller, but I love the band.

A fascinating life

really enjoyed the early years and the meeting of the present band. Shame he didn't narrate as it comes alive much more then e.g. Springsteen, Clapton, Collins, Townsend etc
it becomes frustrating to listen to his constant repetitive never ending hedonism and letting down those who deeply cared for him including 3 wives. it ends on a high note of the band being close again so it felt strange now knowing they recently sacked Buckingham.

FarToo Many Highs Mr. Fleetwood!

An interesting autobiography of Fleetwood Mac and Mick Fleetwood. The author has experienced every aspect of being a full time musician under the spotlight as well as being very honest. I wouldn't like the up and coming young musicians reading this autobiography to think they have to accept all types of drugs and alcohols is what they have to face to be popular in the music business. It's not all stacks of money and drugs although thinking about music can be a dark business.. But as Mr Fleetwood has written, all the afore mentioned can get you a pass to lose everything your cash, your family, your musical instruments and all , where you have to claim bankruptcy. Yes you have a great passion for music, yes your family supports you until your business goes and hits a brick wall Therefore to the young hard working musicians of this world stay on the right side of the border because the border are extremely thin lines in the music business.. Yes you can learn lots from Mick Fleetwood's experiences and learn the wrong things. 'm being a 70 year old and played music for some 50 or so years ( not up to Mick Fleetwood's rank still love my music, even though I've had some failures, some people I've met and worked with in music have fallen by the wayside.. Please be very careful
