Publisher's Summary

With foreword by Daniel Radcliffe.

I heard the rustle again, too close and too real to ignore. I clutched the flashlight, stuck my head out of the mosquito net...and found myself face-to-face with a jaguar.

Four travellers meet in Bolivia and set off into the Amazon rainforest on an expedition to find a hidden tribe and explore places tourists only dream of seeing. But what begins as the adventure of a lifetime quickly becomes a struggle for survival when they get lost in the wilds of the jungle.

The group splits up after disagreements, and Yossi and his friend try to find their own way back without a guide. But when a terrible rafting accident separates them, Yossi is forced to survive for weeks alone in one of the most unpredictable environments on the planet.

Stranded without a knife, map or survival training, he must improvise shelter and forage for wild fruit to survive. As his skin begins to rot from his feet during raging storms and he loses all sense of direction, he wonders if he will make it back alive. It's a story of friendship and of the teachings of the forest, and a terrifying true account that you won't be able to put down.

If you liked the movie, this is a must 👌

I just had to listen to this after watching the movie and was not disappointed! At times I couldn't believe what I was hearing be described... and it's beyond wild to know this all happened in real life. Yossi's writing is compelling and authentic, eliciting the vast spectrum of emotions (a tangible example of how I know I'm reading/listening to a great book) on this roller coaster of a journey through the jungle. Highly, highly recommend!

Pretty good

The story was interesting, if a little slow to start. I also find the author to be a little self righteous in his belief, which was annoying. But all in all was quite an interesting and well written story. Also the narrator was absolutely fantastic! His accents and voices for the different characters were so brilliant.

An epic tale!

This is one of the best stories I've heard in a long time. I give it 10 stars! I watched the movie recently, and loved the story so much that I had to hear the true account, which is even crazier than the movie. Just wow...

Well Worth The Time

There were parts that were slow but my goodness the story is amazing. My heart broke for Yossi, I knew what happened as I got this book immediately after watching the movie and I still was filled with so much emotion listening to what happened. This man survived against all odds, this man survived more in 3 weeks than I likely will ever face. I have so much respect for him, and he deserves all the comfort in the world after what he went through.

Not got me

I got so bored with the book, I went looking for the movie, saw the movie and did not bother finishing the book.
The first park dragged on and on with pointless anecdotes and trivial interactions between the four characters who were all behaving like over emotional teenage girls (Marcus leading the way). The book took so much out of me ( by way of annoyance) that I couldn’t bear to finish it.
If you are reading it, start in the middle. You would have missed absolutely nothing by doing this.
