"Sylvia Frumkin" was born in 1948 and began showing signs of schizophrenia in her teens. She spent the next seventeen years in and out of mental institutions. In 1978, reporter Susan Sheehan took an interest in her and, for more than two years, became immersed in her life: Talking with her, listening to her monologues, sitting in on consultations with doctors - even, for a period, sleeping in the bed next to her in a psychiatric center.

no place
interesting, factual and detailed account of a person suffering from schizophrenia from the view primarily of the mental health system, her family and community. Does detail many of the ways she was failed by those around her but does not gain insight into her own perspective as her own insight was impaired. Overall an in depth illustration of mental illness.

Interesting 😎
It's a little bit slow but I did enjoy it. I have schizophrenia too so I could relate to alot of it especially the hospital admissions. I give it 3 out of 5 stars 🤩
