Story
Newspapers may be full of doom-and-gloom headlines, but the lucky people who live with cats get to be happy each and every day. Then again, if you live with cats you probably don’t see those terrifying headlines, anyway (because your cat won’t get off the paper long enough for you to read it), and that’s sort of the point. Cats make the very best companions for hundreds of reasons. The Book of Pawsome is a touching and raspy-tongue-in-cheek reminder that, even in a world gone mad, cat lovers always have plenty to smile about.

Story
Mitza Maric has always been a little different from other girls. Most 20-year-olds are wives by now, not studying physics at an elite Zurich university with only male students trying to outdo her clever calculations. But Mitza is smart enough to know that, for her, math is an easier path than marriage. And then fellow student Albert Einstein takes an interest in her, and the world turns sideways. Theirs becomes a partnership of the mind and of the heart, but there might not be room for more than one genius in a marriage.

Story
As one of the most beautiful and intriguing birds found in nature, hummingbirds fascinate people around the world. The lightest birds in the sky, hummingbirds are capable of incredible feats, such as flying backwards, diving at speeds of 61 MPH, and beating their wings more than 60 times a second. Miraculous creatures, they are also incredibly vulnerable when they first emerge from their eggs. That’s where Brenda Sherburn comes in. With tenderness and patience, she rescues abandoned hummingbirds and nurses them back to health until they can fly away and live in the wild.

Publisher's Summary
Once in nine lives, something extraordinary happens...
The last thing Gwen Cooper wanted was another cat. She already had two, not to mention a phenomenally underpaying job and a recently broken heart. Then Gwen’s veterinarian called with a story about a three-week-old eyeless kitten who’d been abandoned. It was love at first sight.
Everyone warned that Homer would always be an “underachiever,” never as playful or independent as other cats. But the kitten nobody believed in quickly grew into a three-pound dynamo, a tiny daredevil with a giant heart who eagerly made friends with every human who crossed his path. Homer scaled seven-foot bookcases with ease and leapt five feet into the air to catch flies in mid-buzz. He survived being trapped alone for days after 9/11 in an apartment near the World Trade Center, and even saved Gwen’s life when he chased off an intruder who broke into their home in the middle of the night. But it was Homer’s unswerving loyalty, his infinite capacity for love, and his joy in the face of all obstacles that inspired Gwen daily and transformed her life. And by the time she met the man she would marry, she realized Homer had taught her the most important lesson of all: Love isn’t something you see with your eyes.
Homer’s Odyssey is the once-in-a-lifetime story of an extraordinary cat and his human companion. It celebrates the refusal to accept limits—on love, ability, or hope against overwhelming odds. By turns jubilant and moving, it’s a memoir for anybody who’s ever fallen completely and helplessly in love with a pet.
Critic Reviews
“A wonderful book for animal lovers."—Temple Grandin, author of Animals in Translation
“Entertaining, heart-warming, and sometimes heart-wrenching….Throughout, Homer entertains with his insatiable curiosity and joie de vivre...I couldn’t put the book down and I read half the passages aloud to my husband. I guarantee you’ll find the book as engaging as I did.”—Catster
“Moving and inspiring . . . a three-hankie tale of life and the love that can exist between owner and pet.”—Florida Times-Union

Inspiring!!!
When i first started listening to the life story of this little blind cat, i felt it was a little difficult to get into at first. Maybe i just expected too much to start with.
As the chapters went on and Homer's personality developed, i got more hooked into the story line. Though i was a little late blooming in this particular book by the time Gwen had experienced 9 11, I was definitely hooked and couldn't put the audio book down for the last half of the book.
I've listened to a lot of audio books of biographys of cats on their adventures like Dewey, the small town library cat in Iowa and A street cat named Bob. I did have the paperback for this particular story, Homer's Odyssey, but i find reading generally a bit of a struggle even with my glasses and i love the fact that and audio book reads the story to me. This life story of Homer, is no exception.
I really enjoyed this beautiful memoir of believing, having faith, and realizing that whilst this dear little cat was blind, he also had no fear and lived with full trust, so then what are we're afraid of? Truly inspiring to an demographic.
I would recommend it to all my friends and family.
